Picked up a 6pack of 12oz bottles from BevMo in San Jose, CA and paid in the neighborhood of $7-8.50 for the pack. I've had probably 4 of these so far and am reviewing on around the 5th. I've not been particularly impressed on the first 4. I pour into a standard pint glass to review.
Standard white head of just under an inch. Corn yellow in color and slightly cloudy. A thin layer of retention remains. Carbonation evident but not much rising from the bottom of the glass. Good lacing.
Aroma is toward the hoppy side of the style, but somewhat muted and certainly held up by a nice malt backing. Citrusy and somewhat floral with both grapefruit and pine noted.
There seems to be an off flavor here which keeps reminding me of fish. Good balance with many of the aforementioned characteristics in the nose coming through also in taste.
Medium body with a somewhat crisp finish and mild hoppy aftertaste that doesn't linger or kill your tastebuds. Nice level of carbonation.
I think their Drifter Pale Ale is very good and will much rather purchase that in the future.

Appearance: Hazy medium golden in color, with a modest white head, which soon collapses to scattered patches of foam. Thin lacing coats the glass walls.
Aroma: Caramel notes are accompanied by pine hops.
Taste: Opens with caramel malt and aggressive pine hops. AS the taste progresses, the caramel malt shines through a bit, offering some balance to the fairly intense hops. Finishes with a wave of pine tar hops and a little sweet malt.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, fairly pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: A decent example of the style, I wonder why Widmer Brothers stopped brewing it?
Presentation: Packaged in a custom twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
