Right on, this is exactly what we needed from Widmer, Broken Halo's big brother Deadlift.
Poured quickly into my Duvel tulip. Quick fluffy white head, which falls quickly to give way to a translucent light copper body. Head has completely dissipated to just a thin ring of lace within just a few minutes. Given so, the appearance is a bit lack luster overall.
The aroma is a tropical infusion of big leafy hop cones. Very fresh, clean, and aromatic. The aroma is very tantalizing and one of the better smelling IPA's I've had the pleasure of sniffing in a while.
Taste starts out big and juicy with tropical/citrus hop notes of pineapple, grapefruit, and lemon. Which fade quickly giving the nod to some leafy piney bitterness, and some sweeping earthy malts. All of which is covered by strong residual sweetness that is just a bit too overwhelming though overall.
I have mixed feelings about this one. But overall, I think it's still worth checking out for the majority of us BA's.
