Amber colored with an inch of white foam on top. I get some pine like hops in the aroma, but it seems subdued. The flavor is a bit mor straight forward with the hops. Definitely pine like hops and some light malt rounding out the flavor. Nice Brussels lacing on the glass. The mouth is a bit sticky with the hops.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/6/2013. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of orange zest, grapefruit, lemon zest, pineapple, caramel, biscuit, floral, grass, and floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity and well balanced hop/malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, lemon zest, pineapple, caramel, biscuit, toast, floral, grass, light pine, and floral earthiness. Light floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, caramel, bread, toast, and floral on the finish for a bit. Good balance and robustness of hop and malt flavors; with a balanced hop/malt profile and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice pale ale. Good balance and robustness of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

pulled from a tap into a standard pint

a: deep golden/light amber hue. pours a 1 finger foamy white head. settles slowly and not completely, leaving a persistent blanket of foam on the surface. fluffy peak and valley lacing.

s: sourdough bread. light hint of pine. a bit of lemon pith.

t: yeast and pine. lemon pith. very subtle hint of indistinct sweetness.

m: light and crisp. full bodied, not shallow. dry, bitter, citrusy finish that lingers on the palate throughout.

atmosphere is really strong. nice hue, solid head, and persistent lacing. light nose of pine and lemon citrus. crisp pine hop ace accentuated with citrus and sweet hint. overall this is a good quaff.

As far as ales go, I just expect a lot more from Widmer. I think they did a great job on the color, and a decent job on the aroma but as far as flavor goes, It's a little too strong for an ale as far as I am concerned. I can still appreciate the brew however.

12 oz. Bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Frothy off white head rose quickly to the rim of the glass. Color was a amber-oakish tint.
S- Piney, citrusy smell. Earthy and natural.
T- Light and drinkable for a APA, robust hop not on the tongue at first which withers to a sublte sweetness. I found it to be lighter on the malt, but enough present to be appreciated.
M- Smooth and bright, moderately carbonated.

O- American Pale Ales are amongst my favorite of beer styles. Widmer did right by it with Alchemy. Not overbearingly hopped and the right amount of malt/carbonation make it a great entry-mid level craft drinkers Pale Ale.

APA IS A FAVE STYLE, SO YOU HAVE MY BIAS.

A: Above average, nice color, weight, carbonation, head and retention and lacing just ok.
... slightly hazy amber in color ...

S: Hops & malt well balanced in the nose, moderate aromas of citrusy hops, a bit of cat, and lots of bread.

T: Follows the smell, flavors of citrusy hops with plenty of flavorful, caramel malts and a nice long finish with a balanced blend of sweet & more bitterness. Nice.

M:Medium-bodied on the palate, as it should. Good body.

O: Solid APA. Must try. On the bready side with plenty of fresh hops.
