A - Pours a deep amber with a moderate white head that gives way to somewhat clumpy lacing.

S - Solid hops nose, lemon and pepper. Breadiness and yeast.

T - Hops are present throughout. Both lemony and pepper are represented. Mild and well-balanced. Bready malts round out a full flavor with a bit of grass in the finish.

M - Medium lush.

O - APA is not an easy style to pull-off, no surprise Widmer does it right. Highly recommended.

Poured into a German beer stein. The look was good, the carbonation was lacking, not much head even after pouring almost, "full throttle" from the bottle.

Very slight traces of foam on the side of the glass. The hop aroma stood out. A citrus/cascade hop blend of a bouquet came to mind.

Not very much taste on the malt but it finishes clean. Good beer for the price of $6-7 a six pack. I understand it took the place of Widmer's, "Drifter Pale Ale." I like it better than their former Drifter. A good beer overall.

Poured into a snifter

A: clear gold. A white half finger head that dissipates pretty fast. Minimal lacing.

S: Grapefruit, hoppy, citrus

T: smooth and hoppy, clean, citrus-y. Semi- sweet. Dry finish.

M: medium with medium carbonation.

O: just so so. Not really impressed. No real magic for me.

A: Somewhere between orange and copper. Clear with a small white head that fizzed away leaving a ring. Surprisingly, the sparse head did deposit some nice lacing.

S: Presented a fresh pine aroma with hint of grain. Did not get a lot after the head settled down.

T: Flavor is hop forward with more pine, very dry and somewhat soapy. The malts were well hidden.

M: In the middle, decent carbonation. Dry with a light hop bitterness in the aftertaste.

O: This is one of the driest beers I have had. A nice change from the highly bitter or sweet beers.

12 ounce bottle

Pours dull looking amber, near clear, darker tan head, larger bubbles that quickly fade to next to nothing. Just parts of a film, a thin collar and minor lacing.

Malt and hops about even on the nose.

The label on this one speaks of balance and I think it has been achieved here, hops/malt in harmony and yes balance.

Easy drinking and enjoyable enough. Nothing earth shattering, but this is a good option to use to expose newbies to the world of real beer and quality ale.

rich amber toward copper , subsides to ring of off white lace.
Smell is grassy- piney hops nice and earthy. Some cracker , caramel malts .
Taste follows with medium sweet malt hit followed by some fruity hops in the middle toward and finishes with nice bitterness.
M- light to medium body , OK carb.
Overall - I liked this beer but it doesn't jump out and grab you. I would have again, but not that memorable.

Served in a pint glass.

Appearance: A medium haziness to an amber body, heavy bubbles throughout creating a white head maybe 1/2" off the body.

Smell: Strong rich hops, some citrus lemon feels to the smell not bad at all.

Taste: Light hoppy feel, wet hopped to be exact. Lemon skin with a light hit of yeast. What more can I say simply complex.

Mouth: Medium to heavy, very smooth. Not exactly sticky though slightly sour at the end.

Overall: This beer feels almost like a twist in your traditional Bavarian lager. I see that with respect because it feels like one but not as robust. More pale, more sweet citrusy but not a bad investment especially when you need a "normal" cold one after work.

clear amber. spotty lace. soft grassy hops and sweet malts for smell, subtle and smooth. taste is more of same, nothing really stands out, but a very sessionable beer. would be nice with meats and nuts i think, it won't try to fight with other flavors. mouth feel is better than i expected, so i'm gonna bump it from my original 3.25 to a bit more. add to my list for non-craft drinkers to start with, :)
