It seems like every year somebody releases a Rye IPA that I just fall in love with and can't stop drinking. Last year it was Sierra Nevad's Ruthless. This year it's Widmer's O'ryely. The hop aroma is intoxicatingly spicy. The taste is spicy, somewhat fruity and refreshing. The hop flavor is tropical tasting that's the only way I can describe it. I know that the hops are from New Zealand and considered tropical. Maybe knowing that results in a placebo effect, but the end result is the same. This beer is absurdly drinkable. This is a unique beer and it has become the only one that I want to drink as of late. It is also reasonably priced at Fred Meyer and Safeway. I was surprised that such a fine beer came from Widmer. They usually have solid beers, not transcendent ones such as this. I think this speaks to the competition among breweries in the Portland area. 'Nuff said hands down 'nuff said (Requisite moronic internet catch phrases)
