Pours an effervescent black with 3 fingers of mocha colored head. Nice vicscious look to this, above average head retention & lacing
S: Raspberry juice, faint roasty notes
T: Raspberry, a little cola, roastyness & Baker's chocolate, plus faint smokeyness & a little boozeyness. Boozeyness, dryness, raspberry, roastyness & a little more carob. Finishes dry, a little roasty & with woody hop notes
MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation, thins out a bit once warm
Okay, not one I would buy again. I doubt aging this longer is really going to improve this much. Widmer used to make some beers I really liked, not sure about that any more

A 2012 bottle. I picked this up in late 2013 from Bottle Revolution in Raleigh.
First, I think this beer was too expensive for what it is. I remember paying somewhere around $11 for it. That said, it's not necessarily a bad beverage. It smells like raspberries, a little dark chocolate with some hop aromas. It was a little thin I thought, which made it easy to drink for its higher ABV. The raspberry was extremely light to taste and was much more prominent in the smell, but overall there's not much else to this one from Widmer. Just an OK stout.
Final Thoughts: I'd probably grab it again if it were half the price, but there's no way I'd pay more than $6 for a bomber. Maybe the other variants/flavors are good, and I'd be open to trying them for the right price.

A - Nice appearance. Dark, smoky, little bit of froth, but inviting and pleasant.
S - Good smell. Hoppy and bitter, but no scents of Raspberries.
T - Disappointing. Was expecting a raspberry taste, but there was none. It tasted like any other run of the mill stout.
M - Smooth going down with a hint of bitterness. Easy to drink.
O - A bit pricey. The raspberry advertised never came through, thus it loses its uniqueness.
