Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Continuing the expansion of my gluten-free beer horizons. This stuff pours a clear pale straw topped by a finger of relatively short-lived lightly off-white foam. The nose is nearly nonexistent, though there's a wafting of pure cellulose, like the water dripping from a piece of split celery. I can't say it's necessarily a bad thing, just a feeling like they weren't at all trying here. The taste holds notes of light wheat, light flowers, dried honey, and a vague sense of something sweet-ish that I can't quite put my finger on. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a watery feel. Overall, a pretty weak brew, one that seems to compound some of the negative things I've heard about GF beers.

Widmer Brothers makes a great hefeweizen. As far as Omission is concerned, they could do better. Its an incredibly light flavor, even for a lager and its a little bit in the sweet side of things. There's a hint of hoppiness to it though. It's almost as if they had an idea for a pale ale and decided to turn it into a lager. Would I order this again? Probably not. Would I say no to someone who would like to offer me one? Nope.
This beer is drinkable, but not impressive.

For the last year I've been gluten-free - and my favorites are Widmer Omission - Lager, IPA & Ale. The least bitter (and least powerful) of the three is the gold label Lager at 4.6%, with a smooth, light taste.
As most say, not bad for a gluten-free beer - I like beer but not the beer belly and hope Omission will stay available at my local - Rovers in Austin.
