This "Island beer" as the bottle says, feels like it is definitely watered down and the closest comparison I have would be to say this is Thai's attempt to clone Budweiser. It is not completely horrible, bu is one of those beers you try just once. It is a very light shade of yellow, the head is too much, the aroma is extrememly skunky and it tastes very bland an non-descript. Great to try just once, so buy just one bottle before you spend on a whole 6 pack.

Consumed at Vientiane in Madison Wisconsin.

Basically a crappy Heiniken. Pours a pale golden with tiny bubbles and a quickly dissolving white head. Smells like a skunk’s rear, metal, and pils. Tastes like celery and metal with a touch of sweet malt. Feels thin and watery with a bit of carbonation bite. Undrinkable unless you’re eating really hot food and desperate for a quencher.

Purchased this beer so that I could try a beer from Thailand. I came into it not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised.

Pours a clear yellow and looks about like a BMC beer. There is no head. The aroma is also similar to a BMC with some corn and yeast. No hops are present in the aroma and not much in the flavor. The flavor is corn with a little bit of grass. Basically your basic, macro flavor. Very light mouthfeel. Not a great beer, but better than I was expecting.

A 330ml green glass bottle with a BB of May 2014. Picked up a little while back from a bargain store - bit of a random find. The label claims that Thai jasmine rice is included in the grist.

Poured into a stemmed pilsner glass. A clear golden-yellow colour with low carbonation. Forms a decent head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before dissipating. Aroma of cooked grain, faint malt and a whisper of stewed leaves. Vaguely sweet and exceptionally bland.

Tastes of ultra-light malt with a harsh, metallic finish. Notes of weak malt, faint cooked grain and acrid stewed leaves. A twinge of unpleasant solvent in the background, followed by a harsh, dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is thin and watery, with prickly carbonation and little body to speak of. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of harsh leaves and a nasty metallic twang. Not good.

Blech! Nasty stuff. Looks uninspiring, while the aroma is weak and the flavour is horrid. Body like fizzy water. Simply vile; even a nice pilsner glass couldn't do anything for it. Give this one a miss.

I had this at a local Thai restaurant in Champaign, Illinois and it was an okay beer at best. The beer pours pale golden, with a rapidly dissipating head, and high carbonation. It tastes bitter, with hints of salts, fruits, citric, and rice. It is light, does not leave much of an aftertaste, and is not filling.

poured a off golden , yellow .

slight head , faded fast.

I thought the aroma was strange. had a skunky odor. Some what grassy. Stale beer ?

very off lager taste. hung around the mouth for a while. Some say like a Heineken , give me a Heineken over this any day.

Went back and tried a differant bottle, slightly better but still don't think I would get this one again.

Grabbed a single at Trader Joe's. Like others I was attracted to the label and yet had zero expectations for the beer. Memories of 'The Beach' and the Phi-Phi islands wafted through my brain. And, as luck would have it, the single didn't scan so I got the beer for free. Thank You random Trader Joe's checker!

Pours a typical macro lager in both color and head/retention. Smell tends more towards lightly malted rice/barley and with a light noble hop presence. Tastes decent and offers up a medium body with well balanced carbonation. Finishes rather smoothly. While I certainly wouldn't say that this beer is 'flawless' I would say that it has no obvious flaws(in the macro. department) and has well exceeded my albeit limited expectations.

I will surely buy a full six in the future to bring to a group event and see what others think...

11.2 ounce bottle in a Cost Plus World Market "Beers of the World" collection purchased earlier this year, consumed in late December 2007. I have no idea how old this beer is, but I expect it's past the 3 month mark!

Pours a murky cloudy pale golden yellow, a thin white head quicky dissipating to a partiual cover. Minimal carbonation runs up from the bottom of my Arrogant Bastard pint glass (don't tell anyone from Stone I did this!! :).

Aroma of weak euro-lager stinky hops. Other reviewers said it smells like Heineken, and that's not far off the mark. Not much for malts, but a light cooked veggie note arises too.

Flavor- somewhat sweeter than expected from the aroma, the malt base dominates the thin hops in the aroma. It would be a good thing to try this in Thailand- it may taste like heaven there. But it doesn't here.

I've had better in the style.

Appearance-- Wow. This is just about the lightest beer I've ever seen. Just a hint of a white head that very quickly settles down to just a cap. No lacing.

Aroma--Lots of sour-mash and graininess. Not much else..

Taste- It taste better than it smells. Some malt sweetness. Not much. Blended failry well with the malt and hops.

Mouthfeel- Failry light, thin body. Over-carbonated. Although, the over-carboantion is probably hiding some flaws.

Drinkability--This would be okay with a spicey dish. Nothing else tho.

It was ok I guess. I had it at a thai restaurant and it does go well with thai food.

Appearance- light yellow, thin head, translucent, nice lacing

Smell- light aroma, couldn't really make it out

Taste- mil;d lager flavor

Mouthfeel- light body

Drinkability- ok with thai food but wouldn't drink it regularly

Pours a clear, straw color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of strong pale malt, slight hop, hint of rice, and a hint of sweet malt. Fits the style of an Euro Pale Lager. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong pale malt, hint of sweet malt, slight hop, rice/corn, and a hint of metallic. Overall, average-at-best in every category. This beer was exactly what I expected it would be.

330ml bottle poured into a pils glass.

A:
Pale straw color with rather small white head, it falls quickly and leaves thin film covering with decent lacing, high fizzy carbonation.

S:
The smell is grain, cereal, grassy hop, sweet bready malt and subtle acidic hint.

T:
Mostly leaning toward grain and somewhat grassy that yield a bit astringent and acidic note, end with malt sweetness and hop bitterness mingle trying to cut a sharpness of grain.

M:
The body is light, smooth, dry and clean, crisp yet refreshing.

O:
Nothing new here as it tends to be light and clean just staying on high drinkable side.
