Titje Blanche is a delicious yet simple witbier from Silly brewery, Belgium. To me, this is how this style of beer should be, smooth, refreshing, lightly spiced, mildly carbonated, and not overly wheaty. I enjoyed this beer with some light dinner food and was pleasantly surprised. It appears a very fine light yellow/gold, but was served in a "frosted" style glass which detracted from my enjoyment. The mouthfeel is one complaint, the head was a bit frothy like seafoam, but this is only a minor caveat. Overall, this is a decent choice for a witbeer on any occasion.

330ml brown bottle served to me blind.

Pours a fairly hazed very pale yellow colour, with some floating sediment. Head is a fairly fine crest of very pale white that leaves good lacing. Fine vibrant streams of carbonation. Body is fairly light. Looks pretty decent.

Nose is very bright. Pronounced lemon-peel citrus with a good deal of sweetness through the centre. Slight pastry sweetness comes through as well. A little bit of spice is noticeable, but it's certainly not very strong. Nice enough though.

Very smooth, slick flavour: pronounced vanilla above the peely citrus and seedy spice character. It almost tastes like a slightly spiked vanilla soft-serve. To be honest, it gets a little cloying after a while, but there's something to be said for its power.

Feel is pretty thick, although the strong sweetness probably has something to do with that.

Overall, it's okay, but I even struggled through the bottle I shared. The sweetness is strong, and there's not enough to make it balanced and refreshing.

Bugger! Looks like I accidentally bought another Brasserie de Silly beer from the bottleshop - it's the brewers fault that they gave it a name like Titje and that there was no clear warning on the label saying it was a Silly brew... come to think of it though Titje does sound a bit silly. Balls.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Chimay chalice.

A: Pale cloudy straw, looks like pineapple juice, with a 0.5cm white head. There is all sorts of yeast sediment floating around in various sized clumps, to be honest I like yeast clumps but it can be off-putting to others.

S: Talk about one funky smelling Wit. No seriously this has more funk than the Grandmaster Funk P. Phunkinton laying down some funk on a five-string fretless bass. There is a big musty funk yeast aroma with the classic Wit characters: orange peel, coriander, and clove. Just cant get past that funk though dammit.

T: Tastes like a slice of banana cream pie - all banana-ry and creamy, it's good but I'm not sure if this flavour was intended or if it's been on some remarkable chemical journey. There are notes of other flavours like nutmeg, coriander and cardamom. Oh and that musty funky yeast with a light bitter finish as well.

M: Mouthfeel is creamy textured with a light carbonation.

D: Quite an intriguing Wit we have here. Personally I like a bit of funk in my beers (intended or no) and I love a good banana cream pie (or dessert pies general) so it gets a gold star from me, however I can see others drinking this with their nose all screwed up thinking "WTF is going on?" so... yeah. I like it. Kinda surprised me this time Silly.

Food match: Sorry can't stop thinking of dessert pies now, mmm... Lemon Meringue pie.

Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, sweet lemon citrus and wheaty notes. In the taste, a wheat base, with a sweet lemon tang to it. A small bite, but mainly smooth, with a sweeter lemon like aftertaste. Refreshing, just a bit too sweet for me.

Had on tap. Pour is a cloudy urine looking beer with very little white head. The nose is pure lemondae with notes of sugar in back. The taste is even worse, lots of used socks and lemonade with nothing else. Body is light with very high carbonation and an oily finish. Very artificial and singular.

A - Two fingers of frothy white head perch over the effervescent off white body, quite clear for a wit.

S - Musty, yeasty banana and wheat.

T - Candied banana, white peach, wheat and faint clove touch.

M - Light body, moderate to high carbonation.

O - Nice witbier, brings a distinct Belgian character.

A - Murky golden colour with some small, floating yeast parts. Smallish light head.

S - Sweet and slightly malty at first. Some other fruity/banana type flavours coming through.

T - Very soft on the palate with a slight citric sourness. Some mild orange/lime tastes as well with a very mild aftertaste. Slightly spicy on the finish but with some smooth mead-like overtones.

M - Carbonation is quite mild with the spicy/mead combination soothing the mouth.

O - Not a bad example of the style but a little light in the body. Compared to other bier blanches this one suffers slightly as the taste is slightly too weak.

Pours straw with a large fading head.
Nose shows honey, faint wheat and soft leatherwood or something.
Similar flavours, quite sweet with lots of honey notes. A bit lemonade-like.
Could use more carbonation, body feels a bit watery.
Not very traditional but not a bad beer.

Pouring it into a glass left a nice frothy head that didnt want to hang around.Pale and hazy as required , with an extraordinary number of glasss hugging bubbles
A faint wheat aroma was all I got
The orange peel and coriander were there , but took a good amount of oral to and fro to uncover them.Just a touch of sweetness.
It is silky smooth and lucsious in the mouth , which I would rate as its greatest characteristic
A beer that is better suited to enjoy whilst dining than other beer related pursuits

A: Basically no carbonation, slightly cloudy thin yellow.
S: Straight up honey, with some malt sitting underneath. Very odd, and unwitbier like.
T: wow, not a witbier at all. honey, caramel, sweet, malt underneath.
M: Barely any carbonation.
D: Strange mix of qualities. Perhaps resembles mead more than beer. It's ok.

A - From the tap; comes with a translucent hazy yellow with a thin head that is quickly reduced to a ring of lacing (3.5)

S - Floral notes on the nose immediately decked with spices, mainly coriander, and fresh citrus (4)

T - Strong floral and citrusy notes upfront blended with a truckload of coriander and a yeasty perfumy backing towards the finish; slightly sweet with a pleasant after taste of light floral yeast and citrus. Extremely palatable for the style (5)

M - Light to medium-bodied with some carbonation and a foamy smooth texture (4.5)

D - Very palatable Witbier spotting a quality that clearly supersedes that of the Hoegaarden Witbier. Topped with a great mouthful, this is a newfound top Witbier style brew for me. Perhaps having it on the tap made the difference (5)

Poured a nice hazy golden wheat color with a wonderfully tight white frothy head that subsided and left lacing the entire session. This beer had a great smell of sweet buscuity malt to lemon zest bananna and fruity hops. The taste was very similar to the smell sweet wheat malt backbone that had tons of fruity bannana and cooriander and a sweet dry but very light finish. Mouthfeel is very nice and balanced not too carbonated but very light for as much flavor that comes from this beer. This is a very easy to drink beer, could have multiple and very appropriate for the hot summer days.

Soft and subtle, this Witbier shares a bit in common with lighter Saisons.

Aromas of soft corriander spice, orange peel, pineapples, and a gentle powdered sugar scent decorate the delicate pilsner malt (cracker-like) breadiness and sweetness.

Pouring a deep straw, nearly golden color, the beer shows a mystic glow while revealing a froathy creme of foam while lacing nicely through the session.

A wheaty-malty flavor ensues with a light grain/light malt presence and an undertow of powdered sugar. Spiciness of orange peel, corriander, lemon zest, and white pepper lean onto the esters of tropical pineapples, green apples, and actual Juicy Fruit bubblegum. Variant and mouthwatering throughout.

Despite such flavor, the beer retains a light, refreshing, and easily drinkable body. Creamy up front, but lightening quickly for ease of drinking late. Dry and minty in aftertaste, this beer is a welcome beer for warm days and early session beers.

This beer pours a pale golden yellow colour which forms with a one finger head that dissapates quickly,it truly smells like a proper wibier with aromas of orange, spices and corriander,it has an average mouthfeel with a zesty spicy orange taste but in saying that its not the best witbier ive tasted but not a bad effort.

A: Very cloudy pale yellow, with heaps of thick sediment...1 finger head with sudsy lacing

S: Malty, little cloves, fresh with citrus, even got some passionfruit....& some candy sweetness.

T: Little phenols, cloves, also fruity, some banana, really full, summery & fresh....subtle bitter finish.

M: Smooth, medium, very soft carbonation, & feels a touch watery in finish.

D: excellent, very full fresh 5% ale...loved it & could easily have more...I am actually enjoying this as a more fruitier alternative to my hoegaarden in the fridge. Very belgium in flavour & style with a summer fruity twist...

Pale orange beer, did not observe almost any head at all.

Aroma is rather strong and malty, I like it a lot.

The taste is spicy, mostly like coriander and citrus fruit, but spices dominate the taste. I think aroma is even better than the taste.

Aftertaste is sweet and a bit dry.

Overall - the beer is drinkable, but nothing particularly special.
