A subtly perfumed aroma precedes a slightly bitter taste. The Abbaye de Forest tickles the taste buds with fruity impressions of raisins that culminate in a pleasantly zesty, bitter finish.

The front lable has majorly changed, into something so pared back it is verging on austere. It's is now two shades of grey and with pale cream coloured text. The only graphics are one of the outline of a church window which appears in a small and medium sized versions.
L- Mid gold, pours with slight haze and huge pillowy head. Some minor sediment remains in the bottle.
S- The smell for me seems primarily a woody-note. This is not uncommon in this style of beer.
T- Not quite what I was expecting (of an abbey beer), it's dryer than anticipated and goes into a moderate hoppy finish. In between is a timber note and the more typical mild spicing. I forget now, but perhaps this is the 'Belgian Abbey Blonde' style. (ps. as it warms the spicing progressively seems higher to me).
F- A surprising thing is that the mouth-feel comes over as strikingly light for a 6.5% ABV beer.
O- It's not doing much for me, the absence of much oomph (for a 6.5%)

330ml bottle brought back from Belgium last summer. Pours a pale gold colour with a huge foamy head. Aromas of grain, white fruit, yeast, ginger & lemon grass. Taste is on the sweet side and mildly bitter as well as fruits such as orange & peach, a hint of spice. The body is medium, average carbonation, aftertaste has a dry fruity bitterness.

Pale golden color with apparent carbonation and a huge fluffy fast building head with eternal retention and leaving laces.
Aroma with notes of bread, pineapple, crystalized fruits and honey.
Flavor with notes of herbal, spicy and floral hops (very Hallertau), crystalized fruits, pineapple juice, some lemonade, nutmeg and pears. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness.
Light body with good carbonation. Alcohol of 6.5% is well hidden.
Fruity beer with nice spicy whip from both hops and yeast. I found this beer very pleasant with an enhanced balanced given its hops especially relatively to other Belgian Pale Ales that can’t offset sweetness.

Poured nice, golden with a fluffy white head. Nose was mostly missing, just a bit of yeasrt and fruity notes. Taste was a bit off. Initial sweetness, somewhat oddly cloying mouthfeel, and an sharp no-so-pleasant bitterness on the finish. Not terrible, but not something I would purchase again.

Poured from the 330mL bottle into a pint glass. They should have used a different glass on this one since the head was so huge. Over 4 fingers thick and densely foamy. The beer is a pale golden color.
S: Delicate light fruits. A grassy and honey note in the middle. Very light and crisp, but also reminded of some pale lager in there with the grassy note. Malt is slightly bready and very light.
T: Heavier on the malt than expected. Bread up front with some honey and brown sugar. Hop profile reminds me somewhat of green tea with a bit of spice thrown in there. Actually a good amount of spice. Nutmeg and/or coriander. Finishes with more of the malt. Biscuity with hints of floral hop. Different and crazy but really nice.
F: A bit thin. A light amount of carbonation. I wouldn't call this super refreshing but it is crisp and nice in it's own way.
Overall interesting, different. Not sure if I'd go back to it again soon but a good changeup and a bit of a workout for my tastebuds.

Poured from a 330ml bottle. No freshness date.
A - straw coloured, slightly cloudy. Pours a decent 5mm thick white head that lingers for a while
S - not too potent. Whiff of yeast, decomposing grass and banana bread.
T - honey like sweet malts and strong yeast kick. The sweetness isn't as obvious at first (acutally its a little sour), but comes on strong at the end (thanks to candi sugar), as does a slight bitterness and citrus (orange) and pear flavours. There is a peppery hint in there as well, which becomes more apparent in the aftertaste.
M -medium bodied, moderate to lively carbonation, more cloying than dry texture.
O - Its ok, nothing special, and about on par with a leffe blonde. Its not as sweet (at first) as other belgian pale ales, and has an interesting bitterness to it.
