CAN you believe that I found three new CANs for the CANQuest while in DC this past weekend? Onward!

My pour produced a finger-and-a-half of fluffy bone-white head with decent retention. Color was a light lemon-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose was slightly sulfuric underlain by a slight lager sweetness. Mouthfeel was thin and watery, a real drawback of the style. It had a light lager seetness on the tongue. Finish was mild and unobtrusive. It really begets the question, "Why?" It was inoffensive, but it was also pretty tasteless and bland. Why bother?

(Regular Heineken Lager is already fairly light to begin with, so making a Light version of an already light beer seemed rather suspect; in the end, that gut instinct was spot-on about this one.)

Poured from a 12oz metal can.

Appearance- Extremely pale yellow. It has more of a head and more lacing than regular Heineken, but they both fade fairly fast after the initial up-rush of fizzing bubbles subsides.

Smell- The only detectable scent is one of very diluted grain, which is essentially all this beer is to begin with.

Taste- There is a fast flash of crisp, bitter hop that fades into a clean, dry aftertaste. It's as though Heineken simply poured out 1/3rd of a vat of their regular lager, refilled it with water, and bottled it.

Mouthfeel- Extremely thin and watery with significant carbonation.

Drinkability- Its drinkability really depends on your tastes. If you just finished mowing the lawn and discovered your sink is broken, this serves as an acceptable substitute for water. If your goal is to get drunk without ingesting too many calories or without tasting what goes into your mouth, this serves as an ideal beer. If, however, your goal is to explore and enjoy a delicious beer, this is not the beer for you.

A- Pours a pale yellow with a super foamy head and off white lacing. Nothing to write home about, just like your typical light beer.

S- Grainy, bready, not overwhelming; just unattractive in general. The smell doesn't invite me to want to drink this one, but I did anyway. You can also smell that there will be some bitterness in this beer.

T- Pretty watery, just look at the alcohol content. Also kind of bittery and some mustiness to it. Yuck.

M- The carbonation makes this beer score low here.

D- Drinkable. I could see anyone having maybe a six pack of this in a couple hours. Nothing really could hold one back from drinking a lot of these because the alcohol content is low.

This beer is, essentially, flavored water. The very clean, pale appearance is not attractive. I detected very little aroma. The taste was terrible--I didn't want another. The mouthfeel is almost indistinguishable from lightly fizzed water.

It is worth drinking if only to understand how far beer has come.

Poured into a standard pint glass. Head dissipates almost immediately. Decent lacing but dissolved after 30 seconds or so. The beer was very pale yellow, almost like tinted water. Almost no smell--what little there was had no notes I could discern. Tastes surprisingly harsh considering the appearance and smell. Bitter in the back of the throat--it's a lingering bitterness. Very unpleasant. Mouthfeel of slightly bubbly water. Drinkability is very low--I wouldn't drink this again.

Ultimately, this is a good beer to use for cooking (fondue, beer bread, etc.), but avoid drinking this is you have other options.

Probably deserves a lower score than I gave but I didn't want to completely bash this beer because I drink it if i don't want all of the calories from a regular heineken

Apperance- has a light yellow tint to the beer has a foamy head

Smell- has a corn smell kind of a skunky smell to it but not terrible

Taste- Some grainy smell taste, and water little flavoring

Mouthfeel- Very smooth goes down well being almost like water

Drinkability- It is very drinkable because it has little flavoring to it, and is not that expensive

Appearance: Looked very pale and boring. Flat with no head retention.

Smell: Neutral beer smell. Water. I tried a bit of another one a while back. This one smells better, but I'm still not impressed.

Taste/Mouthfeel: It was kind of warm, so that's not good. A lot like Heineken Lager with these categories, only more watery and less carbonated.

Drinkability: It's water and it's not gross, so it's drinkable.

Overall: I don't know why you would bother picking this over regular Heineken, which is pretty tame to begin with.

look: 1.5 | smell: 1 | taste: 1.5 | feel: 1.5 | overall: 2.5

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass

Pours a crystal clear very pale yellow color with lots of foamy white head. Leaves no lacing at all. Lots of carbination bubbles visible

Not much going on in the nose, the most dominant smell is that of corn then the slightest hint of malts. As with many beers in green bottles there is a skunky smell from being light struck.

The Taste is really, really light. Unlike Heineken Lager there is no real bitterness to speak of, there is however a somewhat sweet taste, and an almost artificial flavor as well. Not quite as skunky as the nose would leave you to believe. Light bodied and heavily carbinated

Unfortunately this beer is not even as good as Heineken. Very watery and boring. Easy to drink on a hot summer day, but with so many other great craft offerings that are light and easy to drink as well, this one will not even be on my radar any more.

Pours an almost clear straw yellow with lots of fizz activity rising to the top and immediately dissipating. Not any head to speak of, other than a very thin ring of white bubble clusters around the perimeter of the glass. Smells rather bourgeois with just enough malt to be described as a beer. Taste is even less so, almost tastes like beer flavored soda water. Mouthfeel is about the same. It is rather drinkable because there is nothing offensive about any of its components.

Picked up one of the 5 Liter mini-kegs for the Champions League game today, all hail Lionel Messi! Poured from the mini keg into a nice tall German glass. Very golden in color like jewelry with a nice foamy head that has good retention and leaves light lace. Nose is slightly malty/grainy and that's it but better than some light beers I have had. Taste is also a bit malty and better flavored than many light beers I have had. Mouthfeel is light but creamy with appropriate carbonation. A coat of light malt stays on the tongue. Sessionable with a good price, one of the better light beers I have had.

From a green bottle to a pint glass.

Pours a crystal clear yellow/gold with slightly sticky white head. No lacing as it drinks.

Wham. Smells like skunk. Not very pleasant.

The taste has some slightly peaty/grainy malt character. Not very easy to taste this through the aroma.

Just another lager for the masses.

Once poured in my "bayern pilsener" glass. Look: Golden glass crystal color, creamy foamy head with medium lenght, never had a light beer with good head; Smell: Sweet grains, smoked malt and herbal hops; Taste: Sweet grains again, cereal and spring water, the ingredients from the smell disappear; Mouthfeel: Watery, slightly bitter, very soft body and medium carbonation; Drinkability: A like beer that liked the smell but with nothing more to highlight, because the taste and mouthfeel doesn's impress.

This beer is what we beer snobs consider shwag but people with little knowledge of beer consider a good one.

I will make this short and sweet...This beer is skunky and bland. You can not use green bottles and expect the beer not to have that skunky taste. It smells aweful to boot. On top of all of this, it is only 3.30% which is total suck. I went to Amsterdam and I do not recall the Dutch actually drinking this beer. IF you want to step away from the super shwag such as Budweiser and Miller, and take it to that next level, skip this and try something from Samuel Adams, Flying Fish, or Long Trail. Heineken brings the suck!!!

I got a few bottles of Heineken Premium Light Lager for free, so I figured I would pay attention and review one.

A very light amber body with a white head. I don't have much retention, and there is no lacing.

The aroma has some cereal, grainy qualities to it, along with a shadow of spicy hops.

The taste has more of those grain flavors that make me think of cereal, but it also has a slightly more pronounced hop profile, which is a good thing. Tasting hops at all in a light lager is a positive.

The mouthfeel is light and fizzy, which I guess is the name of the game in this realm.

Overall, Heineken light is hard for me to rate, because it certainly isn't terrible considering it is a light lager, but it isn't good either. Although I may not have encountered many, I'm sure the Light Lager could be done better. With that said, this beer tastes a bit like real beer and wasn't too offensive.

Poured from a 16 ounce can into a pint glass.

Appearane: White fizzy head settles a little too fast. Bright clear yellow body.

Smell: I don't know how they managed it but it seems to have a very slight skunk, even coming from a can.

Taste: Bland and unoffensive. What most consumers look for in light beers. Tiniest hint of hop spice. I just wish there was a little more substance to this beer.

12 oz can poured into pint glass

A: Definitely its best attribute, very clear pale gold, but a nice pure white, surprisingly stable and decent sized head

S: Not much here at all, maybe crispness comes from hops, maybe a light grain, I can't tell

T: I thought the aroma was bad, several of my friends verified this tastes like water

M: This can wasn't super carbonated, but it is light, not bad

D: Decent, but why would you drink this, stick with water

Notes: It lacked the skunked flavor of a green bottle, but maybe thats a bad thing, atleast that way it has some flavor. This literally tastes like water. With some increased taste it wouldn't be bad, but sadly even Amstel Light beats this.

Poured from a green 12 oz. bottle. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is a bit skunky, some malts. Taste is crisp, malts and slightly sweet. Feels light in the mouth and is highly drinkable. Overall this is not a bad selection at all as far as light beers go.

i can barely drink regular heineken let alone Heineken Light. its basically flavored water and yellow die in a bottle, also due to its light colored green bottle you tend to get one that is skunked at least once a day at the bar. there is no good smell to it and it tends to make you sick if you try to put them down to quickly, i personally suggest that you steer clear of this beer if you can.

My roommate picked it up and I've had it before but I figured might as well review it...There are some macros I can still drink, Heineken is one, Heineken Light is not. Mostly there's no point. 3.3%...it's like skunky carbonated water. Yeah it's drinkable, but why would you want to drink it??

My gf wanted a light beer because she cant handle anything I ever want to drink. So she of course buys a 24 pack on some special deal. I look it up and see 3.3 abv...its basically very expensive water

appearance light yellow, almost urine

smell of very very very faint hops, almost grainy and a hint of fart

taste, bland, boring, no sharpness of anything in particular besides, maybe wheat?

mouthfeel bubbly

drinkablilty is very high in the sense that its easy to drink cause there is no real taste, but why bother with something this low abv. My gf bought it saying ' i can drink a ton of these and get messed up' at my pace of drinking i dont want to go through 18 of these to feel the same buzz i get from 6-7 of anything decent

its honestly not worth the price in comparison to a macro/micro that actually brings something to the table

A: Pale and straw yellow with a thin, frothy head.

S: Faint yeasts and even fainter sweet malts. Not much to be detected from the nose.

T: Sweet, assorted adjunct malts (I detect mainly toasted rice) with just the slightest suggestion of hops.

M: A light body with heavy carbonation (way too much gas!) and a dry and crisp end.

D: Of course it's drinkable (meaning you could slam a lot of these), but really, would you want to? And anyway, if you're looking for a beer to slam down, why pay extra for an import? Bud light comes in 24-packs at a much cheaper price.

12oz slim can poured into a Stone pint glass (is that legal?)

A - Very pale straw yellow color. Not much head. no lacing

S - Skunky hop, grainy malt. Slightly less potent than a regular heiny.

T - bland, rice-like cereal flavor. a little tartness makes it mildly more interesting than a Macro-lite

MF - Light bodied, crisp. Lingering tang

D - I could drink 100 of these, easy. But I wouldn't enjoy it. Experience is about 1 degree above water.

From the 1 pt. 8 fl. oz. bottle with a number on the back that reads 911952850001. Sampled on September 6, 2009. The pour is golden yellow with a bubbly white head that fizzles down to nothing quickly. Green light struck bottle aroma overpowers the weak scents of barley and hops. Thin mouthfeel. The taste has a mixture of weak hops and malts but nothing great.

12 ounce can (tall but thin like a Red Bull can) - $1.29 at Hop City in Atlanta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a frothy, tall, but quickly collapsing white head.

Smell: Humble, demure nose smelling only mildly of barley and rice and floral hops. Thanks so much for the keeping out the skunk wafts, aluminum can, you don't know how much I appreciate it.

Taste: Light, lightly sweet cereal grains and rice is easily balanced out by an equally light touch of hops and bitterness. Finishes dry, clean, and quaintly crisp.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Provided you have your lil' heart set on purchasing Heineken Light, to ensure you circumvent the Euro-skunk, buying this in a can is really the only way to go.

Pours a straw light yellow color. The smell is of really nothiness, and some rice or corn grains. The taste is of corn and rice grains, the taste is very light and watery. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Overall you could drink a lot of these, however, it is very close to being too watery and you would get bored very very quick.
