Poured from a 12 oz. capped bottle (no date) into a pilsener glass.

A vigorous pour yields a 1-finger bright snow white head that quickly fades in about a minute to a thin dusting and thin foam ring. The body is a perfectly clear pale golden straw with a great amount of randomly occurring carbonation bubbles. Some thin lacing can be seen throughout consumption but quickly falls back down to the beer after each sip.

Yet again, green bottles are the blight that plagues the craft beer drinker. Of course, a strong skunk aroma is revealed the second the cap is removed from the bottle and grows in intensity as the beer is poured. Luckily, the skunk does not overpower the other aromas, which include wet hay, sweet biscuit, and agave nectar.

Each sip starts with sweet malt flavors carrying notes of biscuits, floral nectar, and grass. Once again, the skunk rears its ugly little head as the beer reaches the back of the tongue. As the beer is swallowed the skunk quickly peaks and fades to a light, toasted malt and light floral hops flavor. Notes of dry cereal and buttered toast can be found at this point. A slight mineral flavor lingers on the palate between sips.

Light bodied with good carbonation, this beer is as drinkable as any of the style. The body is easy-drinking, crisp, and washes over the tongue well. The carbonation is a little fizzy, which is to be expected for the style, but does not seem to detract from the beer at all. A nice, sharp finish ends each sip (or gulp) nicely and allows the drinker to return to the beer time and time again.

Large can in Lebanon. Was ice cold when taken out of the fridge that was set at -3 degrees Celsius. Gave it 5 mins. Sounded like a was opening a pepsi can. Was extremely refreshing, taste was a bit weak, and carbonated just as much as a coke would be.

Poured from 16 oz. can into standard pint glass. I’d heard and experienced how much the green bottles were skunked (naturally), so I decided to go with a can for hopes that the skunk would not appear.

Appearance: Pours a clear dark golden hue with a white one-finger head that quickly dissipates. Spotty lacing is left on the glass.

Smell: Light hops, metal, water, no skunk, though

Taste: Wow, having had Heineken in a bottle before, the non-skunk ratio is insane. When it’s not skunked, Heineken is a light hoppy beer with a mild bready taste and metallic tinge. There is also a slight bitterness to it. The backbone is especially watery though, with a bit of grass coming through.

Mouthfeel: A pretty light body, heavier than say, Budweiser, but still pretty light. Also, there is a high amount of carbonation, but it works and makes it crisp and refreshing.

Overall: Being a Euro Pale Lager, which is basically the European version of an American Adjunct Lager, it’s not so bad. Just do NOT drink it from a bottle unless you like the flavor of skunk. It reigns supreme in a can, hands down.
