I love this place. In Asheville there are 2 places you must go. JOTW and Barley's. Barley's for the selection and JOTW for the atmosphere. If I lived in Asheville I would spend more time at JOTW than at home. It is so homey feeling, so personal, and the staff is very friendly. On certain nights they have like an open mic for a particular style of music. On the last night I was there it was for bluegrass. At any given time they had 10 or more musicians up on the stage playin for nothing but the love of music and free beer. It was incredible. Some of the best pickin I've ever heard. Just a bunch of people up there jammin.
Onto the beers. The beers are top notch. They usually have about 5-7 taps of the Green Man beers about the same of guest taps and one cask. Not a superior selection but good none the less. The service is very friendly, but can get somewhat slow when it is real busy. I would recommend JOTW to anyone. If you go to Asheville and do not visit JOTW you are missing out.

Originally the home of Green Man Brewing, this is now a gastropub that features Green Man beers, as well as other craft brews on rotating taps. This place has a great feel; dark and cool, with music playing low, and lots of wood and stone throughout. One of my favorite bar atmospheres of all-time! The staff was great; very helpful and very prompt. There were 4 Green Man beers on tap, as well as an additional 8 from other breweries around the country. They have food, but we weren't eating on this trip. The calendar seems like there are constantly events and live music going on. Awesome place to stop, and right in the middle of any beer tours you may want to do in Asheville.

stopped in here after visiting Thirsty Monk its across the street it was low lit with a hippie vibe and lots of wood it was late afternoon so no band was playing several local and guest taps along with green man we had the IPA and it was very good more hoppy than malt tasty and tropical we did not stay long and had nothing to eat but the food looked good but just standard pub food worth a visit but green man brews are on tap elsewhere as are there guest taps just an OK place IMO

I had been told at work this was a great place to go to. At the B&B we were staying another couple said they had a great time listening to music the night before. We were downtown in the afternoon and stopped by for a beer at 2:58 PM. The sign on the door said it opens at 3PM and there were apparent patrons walking around inside. I stuck my head in the door and heard someone ask the bartender what time they open and he curtly said 3PM. He was asked what time is it and walking away said over his shoulder, he didn't care. With that all of us walked out and basically thought this place should have been named "Jack Off in the Woods". This was on Memorial Day
