A whole-cone Cascade dry-hop shines with a malty body in our balanced pale ale. The result, a citrusy aroma backed with malt that pairs beautifully with subtle flavors, especially with citrus dressings and seafood.

Had this one on a trip to the Outer Banks back on 5/7/11. Review is from my notes:

Pours clear golden-copper with small white head. Nice Cascade-like aroma - not too strong or light, just about right on. Still not as aggressively hopped as some APAs. Nice light caramel flavor. Finishes sweet. Good, light body. Refreshing beer. Would like to see a tad more hope profile in aroma and taste.

Hazy, bright amber appearance; mid size off head with a fair amount of lacing. Flowery hop aroma; some citrus notes. Nice hoppy, bitter, resinous taste balanced by the sweetness of the caramel malts. Lively carbonation with a light bodied mouthfeel.

This piney aromatic ale was one of the first local (AVL) brews that I tried, and became one of our go to's for parties and general evening relaxation dinner ales. A nice touch of apricot type fruity note to accent the piney aroma, and some generous malt tones made this a great regular. Too bad the idiot daughter of Oscar Wong is wrecking his well-respected brand, by completely ditching this from their lineup, in favor of following the trendy bullshit haze craze crap.

Poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a golden copper to amber color with a small cap of a little off white foamy head. Slightly dissipated to leave some mild lace.
The aroma had some bitter citrus rind, grassy hops, light citrus zest, some bready malts and a light honey/orange blossom character underneath.
The flavor mildly leaned towards the sweet side through a blend of the citrus, honey and orange blossom. Long sticky sweet honey and orange blossom aftertaste, malty too.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability. Carbonation felt good as an APA. ABV felt good. Finish was semi-zesty with some harshness and a touch of orange blossom smoothness.
Overall, pretty nice as an APA, I'd give it another try if offered.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/27/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, citrus peel/zest, pine, toasted bread, light honey/caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, citrus peel/zest, pine, toasted bread, light honey/caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, citrus peel/zest, pine, toasted bread, light honey/caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a delicious American pale ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and never watery for the ABV. Classic Cascade hop profile on a nice bready malt backbone. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Poured into a Pilsner glass. Pretty much a clear golden color with a fine white head that gives really good retention and side glass lace. Good looking beer.
AROMA: Nothing too strong, moderate tones of floral pine hops and bread malts
TASTE: Clean, crisp, not complex. Decent clean, crisp refreshing taste.A little tart at the finish. Enjoyable.

Pours a clear golden color with 1/2 inch of head that dissipates. Pleasant smell; slight fruitiness. Taste is crisp with a clean finish. Not at all bad; quite refreshing but not overwhelming. Nice all around ale.
