First time having this Carolinas brewery. Pours a very hazy copper color with some sediment in the glass. Aroma is biscuity with citrus and pine notes which gives a nice edge to the smell. A thick head forms and stays with the beer, leaving a nice lacy trail down your pint glass.

Taste is solid, very dry, but not quite as bitter as I usually like my pale ales. Needs a little more hoppy bite in my opinion so its a little flat to me in that regard. But the aftertaste speaks to the hops very well, leaving me with a good overall experience.

A good pale ale I wouldn't mind having a again, but I doubt I'd pick it over some of its more hoppy brethren.

Poured into a New Belgium goblet. Base of bottle says Filled 02/11/14

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that retains decently before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves a thick sheet behind.

S- Sweet-smelling cereal grain malt with grassy mild hops in the back.

T- Bready, semi-sweet malt with minimal hop bitterness to balance. Slightly sweet, very drinkable.

M- Standard pale ale feel with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- All of Highland's beers are very safe. Drinkable, more or less flavorful depending on which one you pick, non-offensive. For what they are, they're not bad but nothing really stands out about any of them. Whatever. As far as variety 12-packs go, the one I just finished ain't bad.

Pours a nice, white head. Slight, hoppy aroma. A nice, citrus hoppiness with a medium bitterness and biscuit coming through in the end. A great citrus finish with a touch of malt in the background.

This is really, really nice. It's VERY well balanced.

I have had this beer a number of times, both bottled and in draft form. Maybe I am a philistine when it comes to beer. I know a lot of people think this one is just ho hum, but to be honest it is one of my all time favorite ales. It smells great, it has a wonderful fruitiness to the aroma, but also has a good amount of that hop/piney resinous smell that should be found in an ale. It has a beautiful color, a hazy ocher with the slightest hit of red. The taste is also very well balanced, you get some of the same notes in the nose you get in the taste, it is also a very smooth beer and one I can (and have) drank a number of in a night out, without getting too carried away with things. Overall, I think this is my favorite in the Highland lineup, but I haven't had them all (yet). Nevertheless, I find myself picking up a six pack of this whenever I see it. I do truly enjoy it.

A - Pours golden with a small head
S - Malty with faint hops
T - Citrus, carmel malts, sweet hints of toffee and a little bitterness.
M - Medium to light body. Its certainly easy to drink.
O - Not one I would seek out, but will be fine with drinking the ones I have.
