Had two of these beers with my Christmas/birthday buffet at the Blue Ridge Restaurant at the Omni Grove Park Inn. Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint. Rich dark brown color with an excellent foamy head and outstanding curtain lacing. Smell and taste of chocolate, dark berries and pumpernickel. Taste and feel a bit lacking but it went very well with my excellent meal.

Excellent beer and a staple in my fridge. Attractive pour with a thick toasted head. Smells of rich roasted malts and a hint of coffee. Flavor: roasted malts, bitter chocolate and coffee. Thick creamy mouthfeel. This beer is delicious and perfectly balanced to throw a few back

Did they use oatmeal when they brewed this beer? Not smooth. Too bitter for the style. Tastes more like an Irish stout. I understand that this is a porter and not a stout but there are no oatmeal brewed qualities to this beer in my opinion.

March 2023. Hickory North Carolina. A little bitter a little watery perhaps I am not Porter drinker more of a stoat. Would defer to others that are more tasty.

I'm a big fan of porters but this seems to have too much of a bite / bad aftertaste. The color looks good & the smell is pretty good. Maybe this is due to it being an oatmeal porter rather than a standard porter.

12 oz. bottle with recent filled on date, as always, HIghland rocks it with this. Big tan head forms on dark brown clear body after a hearty pour into Highland pint glass.
I don't get much nose at first (too cold), but when it warms up a little, it's really rich and roasted malts, with woodsy, leathery notes, and very enticing.
The taste is very much a roasted malt , to the point of hinting at coffee and/or bitter chocolate notes, but not going totally there. Feel is lighter than thinner than many porters, but at 5.9% abv, this is a real pub buzzer with a roasted bitterness that really works. Highland Oatmeal Porter is a classic American pure craft porter with a crisp feel, roasty flavor and nice abv.
Highly recommended.

Dark cola brown pour with moderate head. Nose is lighter than expected with bread and caramel notes. Taste is also lighter than expected with some coffee and oatmeal. Finish is moderate with notes of coffee. Mouthfeel is smooth. Overall a solid porter.

Nice dark color. Tan head that lasts. The smell was somewhat muted to me. It was a little more bitter than I expected. Overall a nice brew, but won’t make it into my rotation.

Picked up as part of a mixed six pack for $10.98 from the Ingles cooler on Spartanburg Hwy in Flat Rock 8-27-21. Bottled 5-10-21; consumed 11-16-21. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured cola brown with a big off white head that is two fingers after five minutes.
Nose is a decent bouquet of roasted malts and floral hops.
Taste is a roasted malt and oatmeal backbone that is hopped nicely enough to balance the sweetness. No astringency at all.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall a real likable sessionable brew. Definitely one at a nice price to put into the rotation occasionally!

Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a khaki colored head that settled into a light cap with some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is of toasted brown bread and caramel. Perhaps a hint of chocolate.
The taste is of brown bread and scorched caramel. Some chicory. Roasted bitterness.
The oatmeal provides a nice smooth and heavier feel; soft carbonation. Starts sweet on the palate and finishes dry and bitter.
A nice flavorful porter. Oatmeal provides the girth to the beer and doesn't overpower.
