Part of the Highland Brewing mixed 12 pack. Pours a light golden color, smallish white head to it. Faint hop aroma. Light to medium bodied, okay mouthfeel. A very malt heavy IPA, would have liked the hops to be a bit more upfront. Solid and well balanced, but a bit on the boring side and doesn't break any boundaries. Serviceable IPA, but nothing special.

A: Clear golden body with white head and nice retention and lacing.
S: Citrus, floral hoppy and bread aromas.
T: Balanced malt backbone with wonderfully hop forward flavors. Pine and citrus at the back end.
M: Crisp, bright & lightly bitter finish.
O: Solid IPA that is well-balanced.

Poured into a Dogfish Spiegelau glass. Base of bottle says Filled 02/18/14.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before dropping to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves a jagged ring around the edge.

S- Hard to get a good whiff even with the Spiegelau glass. Mild hops and some faint bready malt. Slight alcohol fume and there's some strange chemical-like aroma I can't put my finger on. Kind of off-putting.

T- Taste is a bit better with some solid bitterness and more bready malt. Looking for some hop flavors but I really just taste bitter. Some honeyish sweetness going on.

M- Sharp and bitey. Medium carbonation with a lightish body.

O- Not sure what they were going for with this but it missed the mark for me. I did like it a bit better when I had it on tap but was still underwhelmed. For a better English-style IPA also brewed in Asheville, try Green Man IPA.

Pours a nice, resiny white head that laces quite densely. Soft, citric aroma. Hazy, straw color. Starts bitter with a citrus rind hop flavor, a quick jump to a pine hoppiness. Malt comes through near the end with lingering citric bitterness.

Not bad at all. Very vibrant hop flavors and the hop bitterness is right on the edge of being too bitter without crossing that.

This is one of my new favourite IPAs. I just recently started enjoying IPAs Im more of a Stout guy myself. I would highly recommend this for someone who is trying to get their feet wet with IPAs. It is not as bitter as some others. Another IPA I'd recommend is Sierra Nevadas Torpedo.

12 oz bottle into a pint stein.

A: Clear amber with about two fingers of foamy white head. Good lacing on the way down. Not quite the traditional IPA, but very nice appearance nonetheless.

S: Herbs, some citrus, and light floral hops. Not a traditional IPA smell, a lot lighter on hops. Very refreshing, almost "spring like."

T: Light hops present. This isn't an IPA. More citrus, like lemon and grapefruit. Again, I get the "spring and flowers theme." I like it, but it's NOT an IPA. At all. I didn't get the bitterness or astringency some others noted.

M: Light to medium body, not filling, but not watery either. Nothing like I'd think of when I think of an IPA.

I have no idea what they were going for here., It's not an IPA, but it's a good beer.
