Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Pours dark brown and settles brown/black with a craggy mocha head that is a thumb thick and lasting. Very concentrated cocoa/coffee aromain the fore and it has a faint touch of coffee and slightly more chocolate on through the the finish. Fore is ever so slightly tart, but that quickly subsides and roast malt and chocolate come through. Slightly thin. Fairly acidic, but doesn’t have a the intensity of coffee flavor you often find in west coast porters. Some green herbal hop notes appear briefly near the finish. I had high hopes for this beer, but it’s really just okish.

A - Sliver of orange. Tall tight tan head

S - Mild malts and cocoa. Mild but nice

T - Roasted malts with some dark fruit. Mild bitter hit

M - Thick with good coating, howver it seemed bubbly like a cola

O - a lot of potential but it falls a little short

About the most distinctive flavor of dark roasted barley I can remember. Nice balancing act between the sweet malt and the black charred flavors. Near black with a brown edge in the Leffe goblet. Nice and sudsy with a fine carbonation on the tongue. I like this more as I sip on it. Really a big mouthful of flavor. Nose of caramel with some hoppy resins. Moderate bitterness. A little sour burnt malt taste, but just enough to give it an edge.

22 oz bottle from Beer Revolution in Oakland. Not a bad deal for $4.99.

22 oz bottle, no freshness date, poured into pint glass

Visual: Pours black with a cream-tan head.

Nose: Butter-bread, dark chocolate, caramel, followed by a spicy astringency.

Taste: Mild coffee, toasted grain, sweet berries (jam like sweetness), chocolate.

Mouth: Medium body, light middle, leaves sticky.

Overall: I like it. Up front the taste is pretty good. I especially like the berry sweetness; however, my palate grew immune to the taste midway through the beer.
