Vintage 2009 according to a sticker on the label. Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a tulip glass. Very dark cloudy brown with some slight lacing, just enough to know the beer had some decent carbonation, but not leaving a thick head. This beer smells like an interesting combination of sweet and woody with some nice dark fruits. The bourbon is definitely noticeable.
My first taste of this beer yielded a nice up front sweetness followed by some nutty and woody flavors. The bourbon flavor compliments the sweet barleywine flavor quite well and leaves a bit of heat on the palate from the alcohol.
Well balanced beer. The carbonation was a little on the low side for my liking, but that is to be expected for a beer of this type. Overall a very delicious beer. Holding on to a couple of these and looking forward to see what they do with a little time.

Brown pour, yields no head. Unattractive. Aroma was old sweet wood and oxidized malt.
Taste, was all over the place. Plenty of caramel and musty leather and wood notes. Hopping not obvious or all that discernable. Brett didn't really take hold like I would have expected after this amount of extended aging.
Enjoyed this with my baby and friends.

Upset about this one, I was in California and told this was a special gem and hard to find outside of that area so was excited to try it. Overall I would say fairly disappointing and forgettable. Immediate smell of sour fruit and alcohol and the taste was pungent with super sour fruit notes, strong alcohol and an unpleasant lingering of this sour fruit and overpowering alcohol sourness. I typically love barleywines but unfortunately wouldn't want this one again
