Pours golden amberw with a loose white head that fades to film and clings. Nose is apple, tropical flower, yeast. Deep honey malts with a hint of nutmeg, then spice and lemon rind hops. Tight dry end, chewy, medium body, some burn.

A certain cider vinegar quality that is quite pleasant. But a bit heavy and malty for the style.

Beer #3 from France
Poured in small wine glass

A: thin head; clear, amber color; seems inert
S: thin aroma; malty, a bit of lager, much like a eurolager
T: sweet, strong malt and yeast presence; esters; a bit of banana and clove; not much hops; very good specimen for the genre; aggressive and complex

750 ml. bottle. Amber colour with a persistent head, lace and ring all over. Smell of honey, chocolate, caramel, ripened fruits and brandy. Medium to full body, it pass through your tongue very easily, but leaving an alcohol feeling. Taste is alcoholic, honeoy, fruits, caramel, flowers and some chocolate.

Got this one in France while on vacation last summer.

From a 750 into a tulip

APPEARANCE: Pours a three finger, medium looking, fluffy, white head with great retention. Perfectly clear amber yellow with lower levels of carbonation. Fades to a splotchy wisp that leaves some lacing down the glass. A slight wisp remains the whole way leaving some nice, chunky lacing down the sides.

SMELL: Toasted malts, caramel, some green fruits, and some earthy, floral hops on the nose. Bold enough.

TASTE: Toasted malts, caramel and green fruits, like apples and pears, much like the nose had indicated. A grainy, toasted finish of bread, earthy hops and some spicy notes from the alcohol. Much like a Belgian strong pale or a lighter triple.

PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Semi-creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes slightly sticky. Okay here.

OVERALL: A decent beer to be sure. Much like a stronger Belgian pale or a lighter triple, but this one showcased a good array of flavors and drank away quite easily. Must be pretty widely available in France, so a worthy choice if you're in a pinch.

75cl caged and corked brown bottle purchased from a Carrefour in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Freshness date of 02/09/2015.

Pours a lovely clear, and bright golden colour with a coarse-bubbled and rather unpersistent head of white. Fair amount of coarse, streaming carbonation. Body is fairly light, but looks okay. Overall, it's certainly got some good characteristic.

Nose is rather unpleasant and a little disappointing. Flabby adjunct grain characters (I thought corn, but the bottle only mentions rice), slight overt sweetness, and a dirty, skunky character like overboiled vegetables. I guess that's the corn-like DMS I was smelling, but it's not quite straight DMS.

Taste is mildly better, because there's a hint of bitterness to ride over some of the rougher edges. Otherwise, that corny thin sweetness does stretch over most of the rest, with a slight vegetative edge. It's fairly clean and light at least for the most part, but there's not much going for it.

Feel is light and clean: if the flavours weren't so offensive, it would match nicely.

Overall, though, I found much that was unpleasant in this beer. There's not a lot of structure or pleasant flavours to it even looking at the positives, and with the nasty characters coming through it verges on genuinely offensive. Not one I'll be picking up again.

Pours out a rich honey body with a thin, whipped egg white head. Smells of bready malts, faint yeast, alcohol, and earthy hop. Flavor is of honey, bread, floral hops, with a punch of alcohol that seems a bit out of place, seeing as this already has a year on it. Light acidity comes in to refresh the palate a bit. Mouthfeel is chewy with tongue-scrubbing bubbles. Not the best biere de garde I've had, but a good example of one.

Clean golden color, good head formation, with medium retention. In the nose the spicy and earth of yeast and hops can be detected, maltiness in second plan. The taste is spicy too, with sweetness of malts predominaiting, low bitterness and hop flavor

Amber golden color with a one finger thick head with medium retention and leaving laces.
Nice aroma of grainy malt, white pepper, white grapes and oranges. Hints of herbal hops.
Likewise, sweet flavor of oranges, honey, herbal hops, a bit of white grapes, very lightly spiced musk and peaches. Dry aftertaste.
Creamy body with medium carbonation. Alcohol of 7.2% abv is well hidden.
Refreshing and easy to drink, a bit too sweet though. It is not a super complex beer but still flavorful.

The appearance of this beer was striking- strawberry, coppery blonde with very little head. It looked wonderful in my Delirium Tremens chalice. The smell was nothing to write home about; a little bit of hop and light sweet malt, but really not a lot in this department. I really enjoyed the flavor of this beer, as did my wife. Great balance of hop and malt, swaying ever so slightly toward the hops. Light, floral, and just a little citrusy. The mouthfeel was decent; a little too sharp for a great rating, but certainly pleasant. Overall, we really enjoyed it. This was our first venture into this style, but I have a feeling we will be coming back to it quite soon.

Yellow pale, not a lot of foam, even less lacing.
Smells of citrus fruits, grains and grass.
Reading the ingredients (fructose, dextrose and antioxidants), started on an off foot. The chemical meddling is surely felt, but the beer isn't as bad as i've imagined. The malts are the backbone, as is to be expected in a biere de garde, with lots of grains, going to toasted, biscuit, white bread. Fruitiness is low, but providing a decent apple acidity and mild ripe fruit sweetness.
Low caramel, more a sugar syrup kind of sweetness, not entirely icky tho. Spices remind of a toned down witbier. Hops are surprisingly nice and herbal, with a more than decent bitterness in the finish.
The mouthfeel is lagery, fizzy, crisp, ending with a metallic bitterness often found in pilsners
This beer ends up being chaotic: not entirely a biere de garde, not a german lager, not a belgian pale, but still not unique in the world of beers. Personally, i consider it a Belgian style pale ale, meddled upon.
A decent one, nonetheless.
