Golden straw colour with a large, foamy white head with good retention and visible carbonation.

Light and hoppy in aroma with some grass and malts coming through alongside some light floral notes and a fruity, apple like aroma coupled with some sugar.

Malts and a sweet fruity aroma, mainly apples, pear and a fair amount of sugar. There is also some yeast and a touch of spice to it. The taste is a nice one and fairly well balanced.

Smooth with a slightly sticky, sweet feel to it and a light to light medium body and solid carbonation.

Enjoyable beer here with a pleasant, fruity taste and good balance although it was very sweet. It wasn’t outstanding and to be honest probably not one I’d seek out again but still quite drinkable.

A - One finger of creamy, white foam on a clear, amber-gold body. As the head settles it leaves thick rings of lace.

S - Clean and malty with just a hint of apple yeast character.

T - Malty sweetness with a strong pils malt character, notes of honey and graham crackers. Moderate herbal hop flavors and bitterness in the middle fade to an herbal finish with a slight mustiness.

M - High carbonation, medium to heavy body, and a slightly sweet finish.

D - This is a nice Bier de Garde and easy to drink, though it isn't terribly complex. A more interesting malt profile could make this a great beer; as it is, I don't feel like I need to have this one again.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a faint orange glow...lazy bubbles rise up to a frothy white head that leaves sheets and webs of lacing.

I smell biscuits and honey...there are some very faint whiffs of moss, and ripe fruit.

I taste honey and ripe fruits. It is earthy. The flavors remind me of mead?

Medium body...the carbonation tap-dances lightly on my tongue; as the fizz fades it coats my tongue nicely.

Not what I expected for this style, but still a unique beer.

A: Pours a clear golden/orange color. A two finger white head forms and leaves lots of lace behind.
S: A rustic funky aroma and some spices. Grain, bread, yeast, and finishes lightly fruity.
T: Follows the nose. Sweet malt. Funky yeast, grain and bread up front. Finishes with a spicy and fruity flavor. Very simple.
M/D: A lighter body and a little thin for my liking. Easy enough to drink.

Not bad at all. Fairly simple. Not something I will seek out again though.

A: Crystal clear golden brew with a very thin layer of head that has a very long retention and leaves a fair amount of lacing.

S: Nothing too special in the aroma. It has very grainy smell with a heavy hit of yeast. The smell is fairly grassy.

T: Much the same as the smell with lots of grain and yeast in the forefront. It has a slight spiciness with a nice hit of floral notes in the middle. The beer has quite a bit of grainy bitterness throughout, which lasts from the beginning until long after the sip is finished.

M: Light body and lots of carbonation make it easy to drink. Very dry finish.

O: A pretty good beer. Easy to drink and refreshing, with a fair amount of flavor for such a light brew. I wish that it wasn't quite so bitter, because after a few sips that starts to overwhelm.

Bottle to a Belgian tulip.

Billed as a bier de garde / Belgian Golden ale, but pours a little pale with lovely sheets of head that scream Belgian.
The nose is out of the park. Lots of sweetness is evident. The maltiness is assertively present, as is a fresh breadiness-- though not in the way of a Quad. Think muffins? Some lemon rind, too.
The taste falls a little short. Subdued maltiness, and only a touch of the spice and fruit promised by the smell. Nothing jumps out at me here, but it's certainly not out of balance. Lots of creaminess, but the head is not at full as some. The bottle disappears between the 3 of us, but one sip doesn't beg for another.

Served into a snifter from a 750ml bottle (that I have to drink all by myself...).

Appearance: Yellowish-amber color, pretty clear (possibly filtered). Contains a decent head, good carbonation. Bières de Garde vary in the orange tinginess, but this holds up well.

Smell: Slightly sugary, pretty malty overall. There are some honey-filled bready notes, a little bit of spiciness and not as boozy as I expected it to smell.

Taste: I enjoy how this beer tastes, however. The lager yeast is definitely present, but it reveals itself to be creamy, malty, and quite refreshingly sweet unlike other kinds of lagers. The alcohol level becomes strikingly present as one drinks this, but it is highly responsible for the sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Decent overall. A little too watery, but contains a full bodied yet mild bitter sting that makes it worth drinking. There is some zestiness in this beer beyond the maltiness. All it takes is to take it in.

Overall: I was drinking these every other day last year during a hot summer in Toulouse. I took a liking to them then, although it was before I got more serious with craft beers. I still think this is a decent beer, though, even if there are far better kinds of Bières de Garde out there.

Poured a perfectly clear pale gold with 1.5 cm white crown. Excellent lacing.

Smells of hay, celery, and some grain. Standard.

The mouthfeel was slick with good carbonation.

The taste is sweetish, with a touch of grapefruit, making it somewhat astringent. High alcohol content is warming. A touch of spice like coriander is in there as well.

A good ale, funny enough.

750ml bottle, caged and corked. Poured a fluffy 4-finger head with large bubbles, but dissipated rather rapidly.

Clear, dark straw color with a stream a tiny bubbles ascending up the center. Slight and mild, fragrant aroma of banana a malt. The flavor offers strong banana, mild spice, then some candy on the finish.

Medium-mouthed, a bit soapy and a touch syrupy, progresses from bright when first hitting the tongue to sappy and warm on the finish.

Not bad, but not all the memorable.

Thanks to hopdog for sharing...
Appears a light gold with a fluffy 2 finger white head. White film with a solid collar. Little bits of carbonation pump to the top.
Smell is like champaigne spiced with honey and pepper.
Tastes like champaigne spiced with honey and pepper with alcohol detected.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and spicey with a mild sweetness.
This one is ok but the abv is noticable and I'm just not crazy about it.

Clear light amber colored beer that is almost gold in color. Puffy white head.

Smell is sweet with a light fruity aroma. Mostly grape and apple aroma with a little toasted grain. Not that aromatic a beer, just a little sweet and fruity.

Taste starts out mostly malt with a good caramel flavor. Earthy toasted mushroom flavor and some toasted bread flavor. Fruit does not show up in the taste for me.

Mouthfeel is OK.

One thing this does have in spades is excellent drinkability; it practically jumps in to your mouth. A bit pricey though for half the price I will get the Hennepin.
