Presentation: 750ml caged and corked. Had a stamp of 09.28.09 on the bottle. No blurb or anything. Uneventful pop of the cork. Definitely not as carbonated as other caged and corked beers, but also no signs that it would even start to gush.

Appearance: Beautiful cloudy light straw colored beer. Sizeable solid white head rests on top. Retention is good. Carbonation seems a little on the low side.

Smell: Wow, you get a huge hit of oranges up front, almost too overpowering. Slight minty notes with very subdued coriander in the background. Really, that orange is just the dominant aroma, almost like a Sunkist or Fanta Orange soda thing going on. Definitely a very interesting aroma, and I like it.

Taste: Upfront is just even more orange. It truly reminds me of Sunkist or Fanta orange soda. At first the malt is sweet, light on the palate with a creamy effervescence, then dries out and the body lightens near the finish with a touch of lemon. Not much in terms of the aftertaste. Clean and dry finish. Where's the coriander?

Notes: I'm torn over this beer. I'm always out for new and interesting brews. The aroma on this one is just overpowering with oranges, but I really like it even though the balance of the malt, coriander, and yeast in the aroma just isn't there. The taste, wow, even more oranges upfront, almost like I squeezed a half an orange into it(which I absolutely abhor, fruit in my beer? Vile!), starts off like a soda, but then finishes as an uninteresting Witbier. Starts sweet, but finishes dry. Even the burps have an orange flavor. Extremely easy drinking beer, crisp, clean, and thirst-quenching. I can see from a stylistic standpoint that this really isn’t an authentic example of a Witbier, but it’s interesting nonetheless.

Pours a pale yellowish color with a fine-grained pure white foam in the Ommegang chalice. Can't fault the creamy mouthfeel. The aroma seems lacking.

The first sip makes me think of celery tonic. So does the tenth sip. Light and fluffy with an unusual aromatic flavor. Not so much spiced as infused with something. There is a touch of lemon as well as cucumber. Quite dry but without any hint of yeasty flavors. Overall the taste is rather faint.

I guess this one's a matter of personal taste. It seems well made but to me it has a peculiar flavor that doesn't compare to the multitude of "regular" Witbiers. From the 750 corked bottle purchased for ten bucks at Ibis Food Mart in San Diego.

On tap and served in a branded glass at a small cafe in Lille, France.

Appearance: Cloudy hazy glowing white straw yellow beer. Huge head and lots of lacing.

Smell: Practically no smell at all other than a hint of lemon.

Taste: Grainy, watery, with lemon rind - lemon citrus sticks out most of all, but weak - balanced by some of the malt but the malt is weak as well. There is no finish to this beer - it just stops.

Mouthfeel: Watery, with OK carbonation.

Overall / Drinkability: Not a good beer. Weak, insipid, poorly done. Nice looking, but substandard in all other aspects.

Bottle pour at the BevMo Holiday Beerfest held at Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a murky light yellow with a foamy white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, citrus zest, spices, and herbs. Taste is much the same with a mild spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is easy to drink.

Found this at the local beer cave picked it up for giggles. All in all I say its pretty good I can't say great because I am not a huge fan of fruity beers. Which leads to flavor lots of citrus in the taste and smell mildly like lemon with orange on the back. Poured really well a little bit of grain in the texture overall a pretty good beer just will not be more then an every once in awhile drink for me.

Lazy Saturday afternoon, time for a witbier. So, on to it:

Cloudy white grape color, soapy inch thick head, webbed lacing around the glass. The nose is fruity, in a tart, lemony way. Soft, and on the lively side.

It's refreshing, but the flavor is rather one dimensional. Again, it has a sweet lemon flavor, and there's a touch of graininess. The label says that it is brewed with spices, but I'm having a difficult time tasting them. Its body is soft, delicate, and is an okay choice for a witbier. Too bad 750's run for $9.49.
