This was the first stop on a weekend of exploring TO and finding it's beer bars. I'm glad that I don't believe in first impressions.

I was expecting something absolutly amazing given the previous advertisements in the Brewing News. The beer was extremly toned down and watery. The extra hoppy IPA was at best a marginal example of an American Pale Ale. (This was repeated at our hotel bar, I ordered a IPA from another Canadian brewery and it tasted like a Pilsner). The ESB was decent. Cask improved the initial taste, but it fell apart towards the end. I honestly felt like I was drinking beer flavored water, though 500 times better than the beer flavored water at the Distillery in Rochester. The nest stop was Mill Street. The beers there seemed watery to me. Maybe it was my mood, maybe I was comparing their beers (Granite ESB vs. Middle Ages Beast Bitter, IPA vs. Hop DEvil etc.)

The food was above average. The bartender was very chatty and liked the Bills.

Stopped in for a quick bite and to try some new beer. We were greeted quickly and told to sit where we like. Chose a seat close to the fireplace. Service was friendly and beers came out in good time. Tried a flight of four beer, an IPA, black IPA, a pale ale and cask conditioned IPA. The beer were all tasty, but only average. With the great atmosphere inside I expected more from the beer. In the front there is a bar and seating area and then the back opens into a large seating area and there is a patio out back. It is warm and inviting. Staff had a good knowledge of the beer and could answer any questions we had.

Nice restaurant. Excellent pub food and their beers are plentiful and outstanding. Growlers to go at the end of the night.

English pub food all the way and done well. Regular item rotation and something "new" all the time. Pretty good change from the every day.

Good service and pricing. Ask for a sample or two before selecting to ensure you want what you get... some of these home brews are not exactly for everyone. Myself.... I like 99% of what they brew.

I had the fish and chips.... excellent!

Thx for reading!

I stopped into this brewery/restaurant on a recent visit to Toronto. The atmosphere seemed decent (it's basically you're typical Irish style pub). They had about 10 different beers on draft and/or cask. Again, I really appreciate the cask considering I don;t find cask beers all to often in Buffalo.

I opted to try the standard IPA, on cask, and the Hopping Mad IPA. Both offerings were very enjoyable. There is also an attached area to purchase beer-to-go. The prices seemed a bit steep for one liter fills, but I seriously considered buying some bottles to bring back to the US.

I would recommend this bar to anyone who happens to be visiting the area.

Another example of an excellent brewery paired with an average restaurant. The beer is fresh and tasty and they have an on-site store selling growlers. The underground parking is free. But it's definitely not somewhere you would want to bring a date. The food is unimaginative, the decor is tired and faded, it even smells a bit musty. The bar in front is passable for watching a game. There is a outdoor streetside patio in front at a busy intersection & a quieter back patio. I have fond memories of coming here with my single buddies but now it's impossible to convince my non-beer loving wife to make this restaurant a destination.

The front section feels like a bar, where in the back it feels more like a restaurant. Really nice back patio when it is warm out. Not really a night life place (at least on weekdays) as it seems they are closing up by 11 or something like that. It may be better on weekends, but I usually stay downtown then. Food is just typical pub food, which isn't vey good.

For the beer... I really enjoy several of their beers. I usually shift up what I drink, but don't touch the Summer or Ringwood (or their Ringberry). Others are all good. I don't get the growlers because I live closer to Duggan's and Mill Street, but they do sell them there as well.
