The body was a pale, golden color. The significant head quickly faded into a very thin sheet. The intial aroma had a slightly sulfry, skunky fragrance that eventually disappeared allowing for some malt and hop tones to become evident. The medium carbination resulted in a pleasant mouthfeel. The intial flavor profile can be characterized as a bisquity malt taste. The finish was dry and spicey, but not bitter. It's a nice Bohemian pils.

Served cold into a pils glass, this pours a clear, medium gold body with a two finger white head. Retention is fair, and a moderate amount of patchy lace is left on the glass.
Aroma is somewhat muted, with sweet grainy malt and noble floral hops.
Mouthfeel is light medium bodied, with tingly carbonation that is moderately high.
Taste features earthy and grainy malt sweetness that is balanced by floral hops bitterness. Carbonation adds a nice crispness. The sweet pils malt is balanced quite well by the noble hop bitterness.
Crisp and refreshing, with excellent drinkability. Overall, an above average German style pils from Austria.

Clear straw gold color, brightest white head of 1/2 inch with a variety of bubble sizes. Slight fresh yeast and grass aroma. Hoppy bitterness ("saazy") starts in side-by-side with a good but restrained nutty maltiness. While not a huge amount of flavors, the hops and malt work and balance well together. Light mouthfeel makes this beer very light and refreshing. Probably my favorite Pilsner to date...

Nice gold color with a white head. Looks like a great pils, too bad its a bit skunky. There's definate sweet malts behind the skunk, sure would be a nice beer to have fresh. Very drinkable and I enjoyed the beer, but like so many imports it just cant stand up to the travel.

Imported keg draft Enjoyed this in a heated tent at Chicago's downtown Kristkindl Market. For a pilsener, it’s kind of light on the malts. There's a thin but persistent head, a straw colored body with bubbles that don’t stop. Clean lager taste with a light hop balance, not as prnounced as, say, a Pilsner Urquell. Still, nice to have.

T: Straw, floral hops& akiss of malt up front. Citrussy hops then a finish of slight fruittyness

MF: Soft, efferevescent & well balanced

I found this brew to have a citrusy aroma to it. It had a decent head to it. The lacing was decent as well. It is semi-dark yellow in color. It was a bitter tasting brew in my opinion. This brew was just so-so. Nothing outstanding about this brew. I do not think I will be itching to get my hands on this one anytime soon.

Not being a huge pilsner fan I found this beer extremely likable. Using a Pilsner galss the light straw color beer filled the glass leaving a three finger foamy head. Very nice appearance. There is a heavy malt aroma.

The taste was very light but had that traditonal malt flavor. The one thing I extremely liked about the taste was no bad aftertaste that I get from other pilsners. This does leave a slight lingering aftertaste, but I did not find it objectionable.

The mouthfeel was smooth and even. Very light, no harsh acidity to this beer. The carbonation was just right. As far as drinkability goes, I would serve this to my friends.

This is a German Pilsner that succeeds at it purpose: quenching thirst on a hot day. It is fairly one-dimensional, but refreshing nonetheless.

It pours a light, clear straw hue, with a fluffy head that is slow to diminish. Smells lightly of grassy hops, nothing special. Taste is clean, with a slight sweetness and astringent hop bite. The sweetness lingers in the aftertaste with a dry finish. Very thin in the mouth, you can drink this stuff like water.

Overall, it is well balanced, but not especially unique.

Im not sure I am reviewing this under the right beer, as the very simple red and white label stating "Stiegl Bier" from a Cost Plus World Market Beer of the World pack doesn't mention anything more than this. I can't tell for a fact it's a German Pilsener, but it's the closest I can find to any of the beers listed. 1.2 oz clear green bottle.

Pours a pale light golden with no real head, but a steady carbonation. The beer has a nice hop aroma that follows through in the flavor. Malts are grainy, with a light cooked note. Generally OK overall, but not something I'm loving.

Note: The word "Columbus" does not appear on the bottle I have.

Appearance- Pours a clear yellow body with a with a strong white head. The head has some retention, and leaves behind a sticky lace.

Smell- Mostly Pilsner malt and nobel hops. A bit sour-mashy, but that's okay for the style.

Taste- Quite clean and crisp. A little malty with a nice hop bitterness at the back of the tongue. A little spiciness in there to, but it works.

Mouthfeel- Nice, crisp, light body with a good level of carbonation. Get a nice CO2 bite on the tip of the tongue. It would be nice if it danced over your tongue a little more, but not bad.

Drinkability- Very sessionable, very drinkable. Good lawn-mower beer to.

My third try from this brewery, following the hefeweizen and goldbrau lager, and so far this is the best, but the best is only a bit above average. Poured a slightly hazy golden, with a thin sheet of foam. Lively carbonation with tiny bubble streamers. A hint of grape, with a bit heavier caramel malt flavor than typical for the style. Finishes with a firm bittering that lingers at the back of the tongue. While the body is appropriately light, the flavor profile was a bit heavy for the style. Lacked the crispness that I think defines the better examples.

Visual:
Beer was poured into a 0.5L tulip-shaped "Stiegl" stemmed glass. Poured a crystal clear pale straw color with about 3/4 inches of white micro-foam head which slowly dissapated and led to a small amount of soft lacing

Smell:
soft notes of bread, raw wheat, and floral smells of saaz

Taste:
nice light bready and biscuity tastes of the malt. Hopping is purely Saaz, drying out the malt, leaving just a wisp of bitter on the back of the tongue

Body:
This beer light and crisp, carbonation is very evident (almost dominating) in the mouth.

Drinkability:
this is a very well balanced pilsener; a crisp beer with enough body to remind me that this is not just seltzer water, but it is light enough to session, its great on a summer day, and goes pretty darn well with a burger and fries.

Big white fluffy head that took a while to dissipate on top of a clear, straw yellow body with beautiful bubbles. Smelled of straw, some sweetness that was like fresh grain and light lemon. Taste was a sweet straw, a little yeasty, but very clean and crisp, the finish was an extremely light but satisfying hop flavor. German hops finish this clean tasting pilsner and I will be back for more.

Poured this 16.9 oz., undated brown bottle into a pilsner glass. Pale yellow, light and clear body supported three fingers of puffy white head. No where on the bottle (nor on the website) is this beer described as "Columbus Pils". "Salzburger" yes, Columbus no.

Smell was smooth, buttery floral hops. A sour graininess is evident.

Taste was of light bitterness, and not very sweet. Tart, lemony. Rather weak and plain. This one has a short dry finish.

Mouthfeel was mildly carbonated with a moderate body. This is not a pilsner I would seek out.

A clear yellow beer with a strong white head this is a beer that needs no strong pour to form a head.

Pilsener malt and Nobel hops as expected. The scent is herbal and a bit soapy to the nose. This is grassy with a spicy scent. Very grassy smelling Pils.

The taste starts out clean and decently bitter. Tasty and hoppy with a wonderful Nobel hop flavor, this is bitter, herbal and spicy, as it should be. Tasty I think I can detect a trace of oxidation, but my mouth doesn't care.

The Mouthfeel is OK.

Quite good and tasty I really wish I had a growler but all I have is the one bottle. Light years beyond the just OK Lager from the same brewer.

Had a ,5l Stiegl Pils glass at L Woods Pine Lodge in Chicago.

The beer looked very good with a clear yellow body large white head, and a good carbination streaming from the bottom of the glass.

Light grain aroma with a fresh sense of fruits. Pretty standard German Pilsner smell.

The taste had a good balance of straw like hops and sweet malts, Smooth dry finish. Really refreshing. The carbination was perfect, made the mouth feel light and airy, in a good way.

Very surprized by my sample. Give it a try.

Light yellow look with a huge bright white head. Not a lot of standout smells here. Slightly sweet wheat taste. Too much carbonation for me to enjoy fully. The light taste makes this an easy, refreshing drink. Its similarity to an American macro lager deters me from wanting to try it a second time.

1half liter bottle into a Stiegl pilsner glass.

Pours a crystal clear straw color with a nice white head and sticky lace.

Smell is subtle. Clean, slightly metallic with a hint of apple in the there.

Taste is crisp and slightly citric. Hops are just noticable.

Overall, a cleanly done, refreshing beer. Highly drinkable. No real flaws in this one.

Light straw color, unimpressive and barely present head, just a thin layer of bobbules. Smell is grassy malt and doughy yeast, pretty average for a euro pilsner. Taste is sour and grassy, malty, and not very appetizing. I checked again, no freshness date. Pretty bad, I wish they dated this stuff.

Pours a nice pale golden with ample headage. The dominate aromas are of grain in the way of sweet maltiness and some barley-almost like breadflour. On the palate much of the same, sweet malt, bread-dough, and a sufficient splash of hops make this a nicely refreshing pilsner. Very solid and drinkable, I could see myself drinking this beer outdoors in Europe somewhere, say fall time, while enjoying a big bowl of vegetable, beef and barley soup.

Pours a pale yellow with decent but fast fading white head. Smells of not much, citrusy and hops. Taste isn't half bad. Kinda starts slow, but you pick up some grapefruit hops in there and it's rather smooth. LIght bodied with a lot of carbonation. Overall not a bad pilsner, but definitly not one of my favorites. Little better than mediocre.

Appearance - pale yellow/straw pour, a large 3-finger head of crispy white foam piles up pretty quickly. The meltdown is fairly quick, with some dotted bits of lace here and there. Very low bead level in the glass.

Aroma - light grain and hop fruitiness, classic Euro lager aroma. On the lighter side but just enough persistence to be there without having to go after it.

Taste - rich and flavorful malt base. Notable hop balance, very nice. The finish is a good balance of the two flavors, and leaves the mouth cleanly set up for the next taste.

Mouthfeel - crisp without being a carbo-bomb. Just a touch lighter than average, makes for a very refreshing beer.

Drinkability - on the pricey side at 2.59 per 17-ounce bottle, but a very tasty pils.

Pours a clear light gold with a puffy rocky head. Some lacing in the glass.

Smell is pretty light with a small dose of hops.

Taste is clean, slightly sweet and unremarkable. A hint of bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel is light with some carbonation tingle.

Very drinkable if not very remarkable.
