The elegant beer for connoisseurs who love a light, hoppy bitterness and a refined dry taste. Finest Saphir hops provide the typical lemony aroma and gently kiln-dried malt gives the beer its light color. Lean and vibrant - a first-class Pilsner beer.

Poured into a pilsner glass. Golden color with the bubbles going up to the two fingered head. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Great aroma of barley and wheat, a muted lemon scent too.

Mild bitter taste, honey and metallic.

Crisp and clean texture. Moderate to high carbonation. Light body. Perfect pils body.

Drinking this brings back great memories from traveling to and through Salzburg and Austria. Great looking and smelling, the taste was less than I remember at the source.

I had this on draft 9/20/23 @ Bar on Buena.

See-through pale yellow appearance.

Nice bright white head; strong lacing remained.

Saltine cracker & sharp pine notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Saltine cracker, pine & mild wheat bread flavors.

A sharp pils; almost abrasive but still drinkable.

Clear golden body with visible carbonation and white head. Smell and taste are the same here as there isn't a ton of nuance: big white bread, macro euro malt but with only very light bloating, biscuit, rounded out by floral hops. Kind of bland but nothing offensive. Crushable, crisp, carbonation is higher for sure, thin bodied. Better than I expected as it is a solid crusher

Stiegl pours into my glass very pale amber in color, reminding me of ripe hay. The head is thick, rocky, and bone white in color. Head is also pleasantly lasting.
Delicate malt aromas lead the charge, smelling like biscuits or soda crackers. Biscuit malts lead into a center where I’m picking up a few contradictory, but enticingly balanced aromas. On the one hand I’m getting a faintly citrus quality, reminding me of lemon drops. This mingles with a very faint earthiness coupled with just a hint of sulfur which can be okay for this style of beer. All of this fades into the background where there might be a subtle note of European hops.
On the tongue, Stiegl is light bodied with an up front rounded quality promising me something refreshing. Flavor starts out sweet and lightly bready, kind of like bread fresh from the oven. Mouthfeel becomes somewhat more rounded in the center where the breadiness increases a bit before fading into a barely hoppy finish. Unlike the aroma, the flavor gives me bread coupled with that slight earthiness and no hint of lemon drop or sulfur.
It’s very much what I would look for in a lager. There are some genuinely pleasant flavors and aromas. The flavor especially is rounded, balanced, and refreshing. There are no off flavors from adjuncts like your more mainstream lagers. As a well put together, balanced beer, I would happily add this to my summertime drinking rotation.

Pours a clear golden yellow. Bright foam. There’s a grassyness on the aroma, present but muted. Flavor is more musty, although not a turn off. I assume the age on this has dimmed its glow.

Pours a transparent, straw color topped by an inch of craggy, white froth. Bright aroma smells of light, biscuity malt, noble hops, and a hint of lemongrass. Patchy lacing clings to the glass as the beer recedes.

The taste features the aforementioned lemongrass and zesty noble hops up front, succeeded by mild grain husk toward the middle and back. A slightly cloying, aspirin-like bitterness lingers in the finish. Warming reveals subtle floral notes that add depth and complexity to the flavor profile. Light body and high carbonation make for a vibrant, fluffy mouthfeel that's just right for the style.

Overall, this is a quality pilsner that has the flavor and feel to keep you engaged despite the no-frills style.
