A-Pours a straw color with a fizzy white head that dissipates quickly leaving a thin layer of foam.

S-skunky, malty, grassy-like Noble hops

T-Grassy hops (Noble) and some caramel, with a skunky flavor to it.

M-Nicely carbonated, but more on the creamy side.

D-Very drinkable as the flavor is good and it is quite refreshing.

Overally, this is a solid German Pilsener that I would recommend others trying.

A clear and very bright yellow gold, this pils develops an bone-white airy head to about half a finger that falls somewhat slowly to a layer on top that puts down a mixture of spotting and patching on the glass.
Leaf and grass have a very light peppery spiciness to it in the hops, balanced by a somewhat honey-like sweetness and some fruity esters that are a little more tart than I expect. Breadiness in the malts, not quite as dry as some, leads to a little bit of a graininess sliding in underneath before going more crackery, as expected. The hops bite a little stronger on the tongue than I think, which is a pleasant surprise.
It's crisp and creamy with a high carbonation and, interestingly, a bit too much to the medium body. It's clean up front, something building lightly but just.

Binny's - Bolingbrook

Stiegl is straw golden with clarity enough to read a book. Carbonation is small stature but in large number and streams to the surface. A fizzy white head grows easily to a couple fingers before crackling down to a solid head with staying power. Patchy lacing is left behind.

Freshly husked grains aggressively lead the way, a little musty, with a touch of cereal grain sweetness. Floral hoppiness runs from front to back while a grassy edge pops up in the back. A drizzle of honey adds depth. It's clean, crisp, and makes me salivate immediately. Simple and precise.

The flavor, again, is crisp and clean. Fresh grains upfront before segueing into the softly sweet cereal grains. White bread, freshly baked runs through the middle before the crisp graininess returns. Floral hoppiness has its fingerprints all over this pilsner along with a grassy backbone that grows through the drink, eventually taking over on the swallow. Delicious!

The carbonation is lively, pushing the beer through at a good clip but not harshly. The body is on the light side of medium with a finish that's dry before I even swallow. A sturdy grass bitterness is accentuated by the dryness. With the crispness and dryness the drinkability is high as a kite.

Stiegl's Pilsner is a classic, in my opinion. One that's easy to find and, when fresh, amazingly satisfying. It's all things a good pils should be; precise, clean, refreshing, dry, hoppy, and immensely drinkable. It's a shame this beer doesn't get the love it deserves. Either way, I recommend buying some.

Great crackery pilsner malt character, nice bittering hops, slightly earthy, but there's a touch of citrus that is very welcome. Crisp and refreshing, this is a great example of the style. Floral hops are subtle, but noted. Very well constructed and clean.
