Very good for what it is: a light, crisp, low ABV, grapefruit flavored beer-like drink. Ideal for a mid-afternoon barbecue.

Faintly yellow and extremely hazy in appearance. No head but vigorous carbonation bubbles up to the top. Aroma is strong and could be described as similar to lemon lime soda. I take another sniff and I can see that being more grapefruit in nature. The taste is very similar to soda and is very sweet in character. The carbonation and citrus nature is so abundant in taste and in scent that each sip cleanses my sinuses. It's very refreshing and would be nice on a blistering hot day. It's. Bit sweet for my taste.

Quick review here. This stuff is barely beer but I love it with the right people in the right place with the right weather. Sweet & super-carbonated it is totally crushable. Grapefruit flavor is amazing here.

4/2/15 (Can) - Murky blond pour, minimal head and carbonation. Citrus and grapefruit aroma and pleasant taste. Feel smooth, light taste, ABV and kick. Nice relaxing summer radler offering.

So my rating of this is based on what it is, not what other beers are (kinda how it should be, right?). What we have here is the perfect summer day beer (which I tried in the winter...). A beer that shandys likely were designed to emulate. My rating is also a little all over the place. First off, the beer looks tragic. Barely fizzy piss. Perhaps drinking straight from the can is a good route to take. Get past the look and take a whiff to find a pleasant fruity fragrance that seems far less contrived than most shandys I have had. Move on to taste and it is light, fruity, refreshing and crisp. All this at 2.5%!!! As for finish, here's another bonus - not cloyingly sweet as the taste may suggest! Look, this isn't something you will crack open and have an intellectual moment over, but if you have a summer drinking marathon in your future, you have GOT to get a few of these. Especially if that marathon starts before noon!

This beer is phenomenal out of the tall boy cans! In the glass bottles the taste is different and carbonation seems less preserved.
In a bottle I'd rate it about a 3.0
In a can: 5.0

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a super hazy yellow-orange color with a tiny fizzy white head. The head fades almost instantly, leaving almost no foam or lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is strongest of a grapefruit citrus smell with some other smells of lemon and orange. Along with the Taste – The taste begins with a very sweet citrus flavor with the citrus being a blend of orange and a little bit of grapefruit. These flavors create a base flavor for the brew remaining throughout to the end. A very light herbal and grassy flavor join these tastes later on, producing in the end a rather sweet and fruity spiked citrus soda like flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is quite high. For the fruity soda like nature of the brew the feel is fantastic and makes for a very refreshingly sweet brew.

Overall – While more soda like then beer, it is a good summer beverage that would be fantastic for a hot summer day when doing yard work.

This beverage is 50% beer and 50% grapefruit juice and had people turning their nose up at it in the beginning of a recent tasting I held but this tasty treat converted a lot of the people by the end. It's mild beer and pink grapefruit taste changed a few minds. Like I said to the crowd, I'd rather drink this than a fake fruit cider or cooler and obviously the majority agreed.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. Bottom of can says 16934.

A- Pours a lemonade/pineapple juice yellow with a 1/8 inch white head that barely retains at all before becoming a paper-thin ring around the edge of the glass with minimal wispy surface foam.

S- Grapefruit juice with the faintest bit of malt presence.

T- Moderately tart grapefruit juice flavor with nearly no actual "beer" flavor. I wouldn't even be able to tell you this had alcohol in it if I didn't know prior to drinking it. The sweetness comes through just enough to keep the grapefruit from being too much. Kind of wears on the palate after a while.

M- Has a juicy citrus tang to it with medium carbonation and the lightest of bodies.

O- Not bad, and this is coming from a guy who usually hates the taste of grapefruit. I've been hearing so many different people rave about this stuff I had to give in and buy a can. After half the can, it gets to be too grapefruity but they certainly accomplished what they were going for.

A: poured from a 330 mL bottle into a pint glass, golden with a short white head that dissipates leaving little lacing, cloudy

S: slice a pink grapefruit, smell it, that is all

T: sweet and sour grapefruit flavors up front, finish has a malty wheat beer quality

M: thin and refreshing

O: love it, totally different take on a fruit beer

Think overly sweetened grapefruit "lemon" ade. It's quenching but not very beer like. Would do well with the cider crowd I think.

I'm normally not such a pessimist about beers, but this one pissed me off.
Sure, radlers aren't entirely beer, but this went beyond that. Aside from a small aftertaste of beer, this tasted entirely like grapefruit soda.

I was extremely disappointed.
Between the carbonation (a bit thinner than soda), the sweetness (about as sweet as soda), and the flavor (hardly any beer taste. Grapefruit taste was good but not worth getting over a soda), everything was just grapefruit soda.

This is a beer review site, so I'm reviewing it as a beer. I dislike sodas because they're too sweet, and this is just as sweet. Hardly any noticeable beer taste either.

Not recommended.
Recommend to try Schöfferhofer Grapefruit. Even Waterloo radler was better in my opinion (but still not recommended).

If you just buy some grapefruit soda, or even grapefruit juice and mix it with a cheap or pricey beer, you'll be saving a bunch of cash and probably getting the same or better flavor if you're into this.
(I added this last paragraph because it's worth noting. Had to add rating for things like look and smell though, which are lower than they should be to get my desired rating)

Please seriously consider this review. I may be an outlier from the rest, but i sincerely suggest you consider an alternative to this particular radler if you want something that tastes even remotely like a beer.

Poured from a half liter can into a shaker pint. An aggressive pour produces a short-lived head that reduces to a ring and island of lace. The beer is a hazy pale golden with high carbonation.

Surprisingly, the aroma smells mostly of light malt, with of course some grapefruit. The flavor is quite sweet and soda-like, and tastes very much like a Squirt soda, with the malt characters subdued.

This is a pretty tasty and refreshing beverage. It's not very beer-like, but does hit the spot on a hot day.

Interesting. The ABV is very low and it is hard to classify this as a beer.....but...ITS DELICIOUS !!!. Just a hint of beer flavor that is immediately covered up by a wonderful natural grapefruit flavor. This is one of the most refreshing drinks I have had in awhile. I would have preferred a little more beer presence, but for what it is, Excellent, will drink again !

A- Pours a very hazy and pale straw in color. A sizable head forms but isn't around too long, reducing to a small film on the top of the beer.Lacing is minimal, but this beer's looks compare to the best looking hefe's (minus the head).

S- Very light wheaat beer scents up front before the all out sweet and fruity assault on the nose. Grapefruit is not only prominent, but dominating and sweet in the smell. Not much else to this scent, and it borderlines being a straight soda scent.

T- Sweet and fruity flavor of the grapefruit right up front that dominates throughout the drink. Sweet grapefruit flavor presides over the entire drink, with just the slightest wheat beer profile going on in the background. Towards the end of the drink, the grapefruit turns a little more tart, but is still sweet on the whole.

M- Light, crisp, sweet, and refreshing, there isn't much more to say than this is how a radler is supposed to feel.

Overall, a delicious and thirst quenching radler. If it's hot as hell out, drink this; at the beach, on the lawn mower, or just sweating your ass off it will do the trick.

16.9 oz can into a wine glass.

A: Pours a cloudy straw color. The head sucks - it's a finger high (white shade), and it fades as quickly as your average internet meme. No lacing, either. Yeah...this isn't a pretty offering.

S: Pure fuckin' grapefruit juice. It's tart as hell, and just a bit sweet. This honestly smells like a GOOD grapefruit juice, rather than some artificial crap. If there's anything that deserves a demerit or two, it's the fact I pick up very little in the way of beer. Maybe - maaaybe - a touch of malt comes through, but other than that, it's basically glorified grapefruit juice.

T: A bit sweeter than what the nose indicated. Again, the opening flavors are almost purely grapefruit soda. What makes this weird is how the back end seems a bit weird - maybe it's the way the beer and the soda are interacting (maybe my ass, that's exactly what's going on), but I'm getting tones of black pepper, grilled chicken, and lemon. A strange offering, this one.

M: Infinitely, endlessly crushable. Sure, it's VERY sweet by beer standards, and very gassy, but they're both spot-on for a soda. The body is light, which compensates somewhat for the sugary stickiness I'm getting. Oh well, radler.

O: I don't think I've gotten used to radlers after having this. It isn't bad, it just isn't very beer-y to me. To its credit, the fact it's far closer flavor wise to a soda means that beer haters could easily enjoy putting a few of these down.

2.7/5: More soda than beer; there will definitely be fans of this, though

a. White/yellow cloudy with a .5 finger white head that disappears in seconds.

s. Grapefruit and white wine. Smell goes funky quickly.

t. Reminds me of a Bartles and James wine cooler circa 1985. Sweet, some grapefruit without a lot of bite.

m. Very watery. Goes down easy, almost too easy.

O. Good beer.

500 ml can. 40% beer and 60% fruit soda. Hmmm.

A: Pours a cloudy grapefruit juice color (pale straw yellow) under 2-fingers of white head which fades quickly to the rim and leaves just a few spots.

N: Grapefruit and just a slight bit of malt.

T: Follows nose with a mildly sweet soda note.

M: Light body and medium carbonation. Finishes fruity and spritzy, zesty.

O: Surprised with the crisp refreshment and easy drinking.
