Bottle into my Innis & Gunn tulip.

So I got to try a sip of this at a liquor store and was impressed. Very impressed. Especially when told that it was under 2.5% abv! I have always wanted to find a super low abv beer that was enjoyable and refreshing...

Anyway, my initial reaction to that first sip was to rate this beer a 4.75 as a "had," but now in reviewing it I have realized that it is a little too much like soda--- and there is no trace of beer underneath. The sparkling sweetened grapefruit soda is still quite refreshing anyway.

It looks like a slightly carbonated lemonade-- little hazy, yellowish pale color, small white head of loose lazy bubbles that fizzled away quickly and left no sign of ever existing.

Smells like hard lemon candy-- maybe lemonheads? with some big grapefruit notes. Really sweet... Sugary sweet. The crisp citrus flavors are refreshing and tasty, but there is no bitterness. There is no beer flavor at all. This really is a grapefruit soda blended with beer, but it tastes like something make by Mike's hard Lemonade.

The body is thin and light, the low carbonation is actually pretty nice because it doesn't leave me feeling bloated and gassy.

Overall--- a little more beer, a little less soda, this could be wonderful! As it is, unless I find this in cans (most unlikely!), I won't be grabbing it very often. For what this is: a low ABV refreshing summertime beer/soda, it is quite tasty.

This is classified as a fruit beer, which I suppose might be where it belongs, but in comparing this to other Radlers I've had, I must say that this is EASILY the best one.... So my numbers represent a rating compared to other Radlers, and not necessarily to fruit beers in general.

Can: Poured a light yellow color ale with a small bubbly head. Aroma of fresh grapefruit juice with some residual sugar is as far remove to beer as possible. Taste is also dominated by loads of grapefruit notes with some residual sugar notes and some light wheat malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. So much sugar and grapefruit juice that it does not resemble beer anymore but enjoyable on a hot summer day nonetheless.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Burley Oak snifter

A: Pale straw color that is hazy and cloudy.

S: Fruity and tart, smells like a freshly squeezed grapefruit where when you squeeze the pith there is a slight aerosol spray.

T: Nice balance here that is just slightly tipped in favor of a grapefruit tartness. The beer base here is a bit more present, and the fruit here is definitely more of the labeled fruit soda than fruit juice. This is present in the carbonation and lighter flavor of the fruit, compared to those that use straight juice since that is unadulterated unlike fruit sodas.

M: Carbonated with bubbles that aren't very rough, just odd clumsy bubbles that move along the palate.

O: This is excellent and I was surprised to find a six-pack of this. I've been wanting to try this for a while, but even more so after having Sixpoint's RAD.

A: Pours a lightly cloudy straw yellow with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and some light amounts of lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall fizzy white head that quickly reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of grapefruit (almost like grapefruit juice) are present over the top of very light grainy malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of slightly sweet ruby red grapefruit juice without much tanginess. Hints of grainy malts.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: Very similar to a grapefruit soda - super easy to drink and refreshing. I can see why these were originally for cyclist refreshment, it is great on a very hot early summer day here in NC (hottest day of the year so far).

Stiegl Radler (Grapefruit) has a very thick, fizzy, white head, a milky yellow, opaque appearance, and no lacing left behind. The aroma is of grapefruit, and the flavor is of grapefruit, with some background malt. No bitterness detected. Mouthfeel is medium, and Stiegl Radler (Grapefruit) finishes sweet & tart and easy drinking.
