Had this one on tap at Augustiner in Munich. Served in a maß. Little head, and thats saying something for those who've had beer in Germany. Dark brown, but not too heavy looking.
Smells somewhat sweet, but not extreme. Hints of dark fruit and some molasses. Tamed.
Taste is sweet but not overly so. Light hops, flavors of molasses and prunes in the mouth. Finishes pretty cleanly.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly light for a beer like this. Incredibly drinkable, even at this abv. Enjoyed this with some brezen and kraut and it hit the spot (all 1 litre of it). Really a pleasure to drink.
Overall a very good brew. Very good and terribly drinkable. If in Munich, stop in and grab one if you have the time. If you have a choice, though, spring for Andechser instead...their doppelbock is superior.

Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a Celebrator glass
A: Solid brown with a hint of red and a one-finger tan head that settles fairly quickly
S: Roasted malt, roasted nuts, just a hint of caramel and coffee beans
T: Also malty with roasted nuts, a touch of chocolate and a hint of sweetness
M: Medium-bodied, just a hint sweet though perhaps just a touch watery
O: Let that remaining sweetness ferment into something dry and this would go from pretty good to great

(purchased cold - poured into an Innis & Gunn fluted goblet)
A: clear, burgundy (rusty red) liquid... nice pad of spongy foam on the pour, died rather quick, however... thin collar left till the end
S: superb... lightly-spiced, stewed apple... huge, mid-dark melanoidin foundation... bit of caramelized sugar and hard cookie
T: overripe fruits up front... toasty, dark, brittle caramel... mild-moderate toast and hop bitterness lingering in the finish, also a doughy-yeasty tone late... very much malt-centric, with a tinge of milk chocolate and a Beck's-like, 'beery'-lagery aftertaste
M: fullish and a tad chewy... moderately oily-silky, with a slight, squashed, boozy flare in the end... lightly plumpy but pretty darn dry in the finish
O: could I drink a liter of this?... maybe, if this was all I was planning on eating for the majority of the day... seems like it could be filling at first, but its dry drop tempts ya
