500ml bottle served in a pilsen glass.

A: Pours an absolutely clear pale yellow color forming a medium fluffy and bubbled white head. Medium retention and lots of lacings left in the glass

S: Strong sweet malts in the nose. Very bready and biscuity. Notes of adjunct malts, mainly rice. Light notes of flowery hops

T: Follows the nose. Strong notes of sweet malts. Quite biscuity and crispy. Again, some notes of adjunct malts. Light hops bitterness in the end

M: Very light body and medium carbonation. Crispy malty aftertaste

O: Drinkable and not that bad for an Adjunct Lager

A: This beer pours a nice golden color with a head that laces the glass

S: A corn smell with some grainy edge to it

T: Taste of some sweet malt with a hint of corn

M: This beer has some carbonization and goes down smooth

D: This is a beer that I will drink again. It is a good African beer

I drank this African brew while doing some midnight grilling with friends.

A - Golden bronze yellow with a one and half finger head of foamy white suds. A small amount of lace is left on the glass, and head retention is not the greatest, but it sticks around for a while.

S - Grainy malt, gentle honeycomb, and some laid back herbal/grassy hops. The hops are just barely there, but provide a bit of aromatic balance to the predominately malty notes.

T - Tastes just like it smells. Malty honey and cereal grains with a gentle touch of dried hay hops.

M - Light bodied....maybe a little bit thicker than a pils. Moderate carbonation and a pleasant waxy finish with a little more hoppage. Nice.

D - This basic but tasty lager went well with some big sausages and turkey dogs. Nothing special going on here, but it's a very respectable if a bit basic lager. If this is classified as an American Macro, then it's probably about the best AML that I've ever had.

Appearance - Very light and clear yellow. Fizzy head that quickly dies into a lifeless film. Champagne bubbles. Not real tempting.

Smell - Adjunct smell. Plus a little fruitiness, a little like green apple. Like a macro brew, but a bit stronger.

Taste - Pretty standard macro flavor thats a notch stronger, maybe a hint less sweet and has a touch of citrus to it. Not even a hint of bitterness. Clean and dry.

Mouthfeel - Quite watery even for an adjunct. Seems almost flat.

Drinkability - Plenty light enough to drink without thinking. But nothing to go chasing after. Flavor is plain to slightly better than plain adjunct. But hey, it's from Kenya and its got a friggin elephant on the label (extra 1/2 point in the drinkability column for hippnes). Bia Yangu Nehi Yangu (Kenyan for : try it once if you like to try a large number of beers because it is ok, but nothing unusual or extraordinary).

I had a bottle of this at Stout, which is right by MSG in NYC. I figured when else am I going to get to try out a Kenyan beer? This wasn't too bad. Quite malty and somewhat sour.

It was a dull yellow in color with a thick foamy head and average lace. Malt scent to it. Very dry taste to it. Not bad at all, but doesn't really do anything for me, either.
