Birthday present from @epiclurk, from Slowbeer in Melbourne.

Pours a murky nut brown colour, with a very fine, but inconsistent film of yellow beige. Some speckled lacing, but the beer itself seems very fluid, with no crackling rocky persistence. Body is quite heavy, nonetheless, leaving some pleasant fine carbonation when tilted. Not a bad look, all up.

Nose is brown and roasty, with muddled grains mixing with a boozy nuttiness like amaretto. Slightly sweet estery characters coming through as well, especially as it warms. Pleasant enough, although not particularly rich or complex.

Taste is a melange of sweet and roasty, with overtones of the spicy amaretto alcohol coming through as well. Front palate gets sweet toffeed grains, before all the sweetness falls away, leaving nutty savour and a touch of lingering fragrance like raspberry marshmallows. Feel is quite thin, which works against the alcohol, accentuating it too much, where a fuller body would complement it more.

Decent and interesting enough. Missing some depth and fullness on the palate, but with a pleasant integration of the flavours at least.

This pours a rich chestnut brown colour with a small off-white head.

Rich, bready and caramel malts. Bitter toffee. Good.

Smooth and malty with lots of dark toffee notes. Good breadiness and a nice counteracting bitterness.

Medium body with moderate carbonation.

A delightful beer that is full of flavour and well balanced.

Pours dark brown with a large quickly fading head.
Nose is very rich with loads of melanoidins, golden syrup, caramel, prunes and figs. Lovely, very expressive.
Flavours are similarly rich, pretty full-on even. Almost exactly the same as the aroma, but very sweet. Gets a bit too much.
Carbonation is a little too high for these flavours, although, at least it helps cut through the sweetness a little.

This brew pours a light brown hue with decent carbonation that leaves behind a one finger head and some subtle lacing, the aromas are roasted malts, caramel toffee and dark fruits,it has a medium bodied mouthfeel which is nicely carbonated with tastes of caramel fudge, toffee, plums, dark berries and finishes with a bittersweet tingle, overall not bad but not the best DB i have had.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark burgundy color ale with an off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light dry fruits with some caramel malt is enjoyable. Taste is also a mix between some sweet caramel malt with notes of dry fruits. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation. A bit off for the style with some ester definitely lacing for the style; also a fuller body with a creamy texture would have been more appropriate. Not bad but somewhat off from the staple of the style.

600 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7,0%. Dark brown to chestnut colour, big beige head. Fruity aroma, notes of red wine vinegar and hops, hints of berries. Fairly clean and malty flavour with hints of caramel, but the beer has not much residual sweetness. Hints of berries again. Moderate hops. Nice enough.

Bottle at Beer Bistro. Pours dark reddish brown with a little white head. Moderate malty aroma, with a bit of chocolate malts. Above average carbonation, a bit above average mouthfeel. An above average beer, although not one I would crave for. Balanced, not overly sweet.

On-tap at Nørrebro Bryghus; served in Nørrebro Bryghus glass with stem.
Clear reddish-copper color; off-white head.
Pleasant, round and warm malty aroma.
Taste is malty-sweet, balanced by moderate bitterness. Nice finish. Slightly thin mouthfeel for a doppelbock, whereas drinkability is good for the style.
As always at Nørrebro Bryghus, served too cold.
