On tap at Camping in Beersel. Dark almost blood red with a pink cherry froth. Aroma of sweet fresh cherries, finish hints at red wine fruit and just a touch of lambic sourness. Flavor too is dominated by freshly picked cherries although there is a bit of a sugary sweetness to be found here as well. Sourness is mild but present in a balancing way so as to not make this overl y sweet or wet. Some tartness enters play in the finish. Somewhat one dimensional but that dimension is done quite well. This lambic lives somewhere between Lindemans and the Oude Geuze of Beersel's past.

375ml corked & caged bottle poured into a HF Wine glass.

Pours a very dark ruby color with a small but thick and creamy light pink head. Nose is tart, sweet, and cherries.

Taste is too sweet for me, I find this with a lot of kreiks, it's too much like couch syrup. The finish is tart and tangy with a bit too much sweetness.

375ml caged and corked bottle, sort of the little brother to the Oude Kriek Vieille, I gather.

This beer pours a clear, dark magenta amber hue, with three fat fingers of puffy, fairly creamy, and mildly bubbly pale pink head, which leaves some thick swaths of low-lying fog lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of semi-sweet and tart cherry juice, earthy yeast, gritty pale malt, a touch of sugary caramel, faint funky notes, and softly leafy, weedy, and grassy hops. The taste is more candied cherry, with a decent enough tartness offset, pale and wheaty malt, a tame red vinegar sourness, ethereal Belgian yeast, and sort of musty, earthy, and wet grassy hops.

The bubbles are nice and zippy in their tight frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, with a thinning from all the fruitiness apparent almost from the get-go. It finishes on the sweet side, the cherries seeing this one through, alongside a growing musky, somewhat funky astringency.

Definitely on the sweeter side of Belgian Krieks, but not quite approaching the Lindemans horizon. Enough tart and musty yeast character presides, allowing for a more or less enjoyable and drinkable sour cherry beer, even if the shelf price of this offering does not exactly scream out 'buy me again and again'.

Poured into a large tulip with a grape brown color with a thick head with a pink hue to it. Smells musty with lots of read wine notes as well as some cherry and some alcohol scent. Wow this tastes incredible. My first kriek, a very grainy taste with a cherry and sherry aftertaste. Also tastes a bit grapey. Reminds me of a carbonated fruit punch but in a good way. This feels pretty good in the mouth except for when it warms up the cherry tastes is quite prominent but still not too sour. Very drinkable but an expensive habit.

Unknown vintage but definitely a few years old, best before is 08/10/2024 (based on online research this means it's a 2004).

A: deep salmon, pink head that was voluminous and long lasted.

S: very chemical chlorine--high school pool--urinal cake, nail polish, cherries, it really smells like clean vagina.

T: Clearly Canadian (Black Cherry flavor), the park when it rains--wet leaves--algae, like when you drink weird water either stream water or well water. Chlorinated aftertaste.

M: not thin, not thick, in Goldilocks zone for this style of beer. Highly carbonated in a way that feels natural.

O: vegetal and vaginal (in the cleanest way, no fish). If you're looking an American Wild ale, this is not it, too much vegetal/wet leaves that you don't with those, but if you're looking a traditional, affordable Belgian Kriek then this is a great representative.

Poured from a 375ml corked and caged bottle into a tall snifter. The beer has a beautiful color. Dark, deep ruby-red with a nice fluffy pink head. The nose is faint but interesting and has hints of cherries and cotton candy.

Very mild flavor, medium-firm mouthfeel, and light body. The flavor isn't highly sour and acidic, but at the same time you don't get strong fruit juice notes as with some (sweetened) krieks. Instead, you get a mellow slightly tart beverage with light cherry and wine-like flavors. Not very tannic. Finish is kind of bland.

This is not a bad beer, but it's not good either. There isn't a lot of flavor here for the price you pay. It's just kind of dead. I won't buy this again. For what this beer costs, there are better beers with far more flavor.

I had a bottle of this at Max's. Poured into a goblet.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy reddish pink with two fingers of pink head and good retention.

Smell: Mild and slightly tart. I'm definitely picking up the cherries and a light sweetness.

Taste: The flavor it a bit watery. Tart and fruity with sour cherries and vinegar notes. The finish is bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with aggressive, tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I was underwhelmed by this offering. The taste didn't have enough going on. Not bad, but not again.

Bought this one without realizing it wasn't the oude version. Oh well.

A: Pours a deep purplish-red with a nice light purple head.

S: Moderately sweet cherry flesh in the nose. Not much acidity. A hint of wheat and vinous oak tannins.

T: Taste brings pleasant cherry sweetness interrupted briefly by a very mild note of tartness. Some vanilla and a bit of oak are detected as well, and a bit of subtle muskiness.

M: Light-bodied with full, creamy carbonation.

O: Not disgustingly sweet, but pretty disappointing with the lack of acidity. Next time I'll make sure I'm getting Vieille.
