After playing a round of golf at Casperkill located just behind Half Time, the group of locals I played with jumped at the chance to eat lunch at Crew. They all stated the place was great and frequent it often.

The place is not large but the decor is modern. Two bar areas, with one located in front of the grills. Pleasant on the eyes.

The lunch menu focused on salads and sandwiches. The group loved the food they had, and I had a great pulled pork sandwich.

The real focus for me was the great beer selection. 50 bottles and 10 taps. The tap list was so good I did not even look at the bottle menu - Pranqster, EKU Pils, Cisco Summer, Avery Karma, Weyerbacher Double Simcoe, Redhook Brown Ale, Jenlain Ambree, DFH Shelter Pale, Bear Republic Black Stout and Sam Adams Summer Ale. The Simcoe and Stout I had were wonderfully fresh and tasty.

This will be a must stop when I visit Half Time on future trips.

Stopped here for the 3rd time today after stocking up at Half Time. The first time I was here was with my 14 year old daughter last Summer, prior to a Hudson Valley Renegades baseball game. I'll get to the beer next, but the food here is very good. I guess this should not be a surprise, given Crew's proximity to the Culinary Institute of America. On both visits the soups were really good. Last time I was in, there was red pepper infused tomato soup, not spicy at all. Today I had a VERY good butternut squash soup, accompanied by one of the tastiest pork loin sandwiches I have had at a restaurant. On the beer front, 10 taps, all high quality stuff. I had an Avery Red (really an apricot colored concoction) and a Monschof Schwartzbier, both very fresh and outstanding; and not too cold. Service at the bar, from Dana, was really good too. I also thought the pricing was reasonable--2 pints and half a sandwich with bowl of soup for less than $20. Next time I go, I will sit at the counter in front of the open hearth kitchen, so I can see the "action". I highly recommend this place for anyone in the Poughkeepsie area, whether you shop at Half Time or not.

Crew has re-opened full-time with bar as of June 18th 2009 and is under New Ownership. It had been closed since April of 2008.

I returned to find much of what was liked by all has not changed. Some enhancements to the food menu have taken place, but for all intents and purposes, it's the "same old crew" which is a GOOD thing.

Many old faces have returned. Tommy at the bar is simply one of The Best bartenders you'll ever come across. Having him at Crew is like hitting the Daily Double.

My first visit back I had Delerium Tremens on tap followed by a grilled shrimp appetizer.

Other taps included Captain Lawrence Pale Ale, Dogfish 60min IPA, Bluepoint Toasted Lager.

UPDATE Aug 2009: Prices for tap beer are quite pricey; especially since they are in 16oz pints and not 20oz Imperials. Be prepared to pay non-competitive prices ... $6 to $8 for Domestic micros.

Stopped in for lunch with my mom before a Half Time trip based on the recommendation of a BA I met at Mahar's. The place was packed at lunch and there really isn't much around it which will tell you something. The first thing I noticed was the beer selection. On tap that I remember Golden Draak, Capt Lawrence Smoked Porter, Sam Adams Winter, Sierra Nevada Celebration, A Czech pilsner, Old Rasputin RIS, and St Bernadus. The prices for lunch were very reasonable and the food was really good. Being next to half time it is simply too perfect especially for those traveling.

I've never gotten used to restaurants and bars located on strip malls, and Crew is certainly one of those. The major redeeming factor about its location is that it is directly next door to Half Time Beverages--arguably one of the best places to shop for beer in the Northeast. In fact, Half Time and Crew are under the same ownership and management, a real plus for each. Route 9 in Poughkeepsie notwithstanding, they've done a great job with this place. It is not large, but there is a sense of spaciousness. The interior is one third classic English Pub (long and fairly narrow with tables and booths along one wall and various bars along the other), one third Beni-Hana with the CIA chefs working directly in front of customers at a long eating bar, and one third "Ten Forward" from Star Trek; The Next Generation, with contemporary lighting and lots of burnished metal cladding to offset the stylish red booths. As strange as it seems on the surface, this mix works very well, and it felt comfortably sociable.

We arrived at about 5:30 pm on a Saturday, and already the place was half full. By the time we departed a bit over an hour later, it was full. The wait staff was very attentive and cheerful. The beer selection is worthy and balanced--nine choices on tap, some imports some domestics, including one of my favorites: the delicious Stone IPA. Of course, there were more beers to be had in bottles. I thought the advertised selection was a bit tilted towards the designer macros (often the case when food is the primary concern, which it is here), but I suspect you could special order any beer available next door, as long as you know what you want. There's also a wine list.

Speaking of the food, it was excellent. I sprung for the Filet Mignon, which was generously portioned, cooked precisely to specifications, and complemented by tastefully seasoned beets, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. My wife went low brow; she ordered the basic cheeseburger, which she indicated was quite good, and she expecially like the seasoned fries. Finally, the coup de grace: after a very pleasant dinner, we went next door to Half Time and replenished our beer supply.

This is a nice little restaurant that happens to be located next door to the best beer store in the states! The atmosphere is good. Futuristic and a bit "uppity", but not intimidating. Quality of the beers was very good, although I only got one draught (Arrogant Bastard) it was tasty and fresh. Service was very good and fast. When our veggie sandwitch was delayed for a few minutes we got two free bowls of awesome home-made soup! Both soups were very, very good! Try the Red pepper bisque if you get the chance! Selection was good with about 60 bottles of some interesting imports and micros, and 12 taps all pouring micros of different calibre. Food, as mentioned was awesome. The fries here are killer as is the veggie sandwitch. A new "no brainer" for future half-time visits!

Stopped for lunch after a very successful visit to Half Time. The restauarnt was moderately grouded, but we were promptly seated. The tap was good, but not great. I guess I was looking to try somehiing that I hadn't had before, but I had no luck. The bottle selection was also good but not superb. Our drink and food oreders were taken in an acceptable time frame. The drinks and food were served promptly. I had a chicken wrap amd my wife had a chicken sandwich and both were excellent (I ended up eating half of hers) We were in a bit of a rush and everything ws done promptly. (I hate sitting around for 15 minutes waiting for the bill after I am done eating and drinking. I can highly recommend Crew based on food, service, and a good beer selection.

This is a great place but it is kind of expensive, definitely worth it though theybhave Great elegant food with very talented chefs. Very diverse menu not too huge but has great options for all. Uses local ingredients so taste is very good. Beer selection is pretty good too, only place I've ever been to with DFH 120 min on tap. One thing I liked was they do half pints, which allowed me to enjoy a Brooklyn chocolate stout with dessert before driving home. The ambiance is interesting, almost looks like it belongs in NYC, very dark but elegant. Open kitchen with a bar overlooking the kitchen as well as a normal bar. Lava cake is incredible, highly reccommend!
