Nice head that settles in a rocky fashion, leaving some chunky lace after each sip.

Malty (crystal) aroma. Adequate hop to provide balance, but this smells closer to a cross between a Mild and a Scotch ale.

Solid toasty malt flavor up front. Stronger hop finish than I expected. Provides good balance. A rich beer, but with good carbonation.

Canned 4/10/19, too bad... I just bought this. I've had this beer a bunch of times too and surprised I don't have a review. Maybe it got eaten.
Pours a light foamy fizzy head with med retention, fair lacing, very hazy amber-orange color

Nose brings toasty grainy malt, reddish toasted amber malt with a little biscuity bready notes, mild lager notes but def past it's prime, touch vegetal, light herbal hops

Taste brings mild sweet malts out front, toasty reddish slight biscuity amber malts, toasty, little candy caramel like, soft lager note with a touch of cooked vegetables which could be the age, light bitterness and touch of herbal hops, drier finish, a little spicy hop note

Mouth is med to lighter bod, med-higher fizzy carb, soft lager but less crisp than usual

Overall it's a good beer, despite the mild cooked vegetable notes that likely came from the age as it's over a year old. I def want to try to find this again but fresh.

On my many visits through Massachusetts and various New England hamlets I made a trip to Gloucester with my wife who must play the film "The Perfect Storm" at least twice a year. We happened upon the Crow's Nest which is a small dark tavern (from the film) close to the harbor full of colorful locals and memorabilia.
They had Fisherman's Brew on tap which had a nice color and a small bit of flavorable foam which stuck to the glass the way rural, hand-made beers are suppose to. Full of body, not bitter, and pleasant to the senses made me have another and then, another. My wife, who is not a beer drinker, had a few herself and remarked how well made and flavorable this was. She had a new favorite, but sadly, found that it was not available in Texas or anywhere remotely close to us. I do not remember a Sam Adams ever capturing the senses quite like the Fisherman's Brew.
Impressionable, which, upon our next trip to Cape Cod, we hope to consume several more. This local favorite is on my recommend list of "must try" when you are in area that it is available. Have salt water and breezy air close by.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a slightly dark yet clear red body with a decent transparency. One finger white foamy head softly dissipated to leave some sliding mild lace.
The aroma had some caramel malts up front, light dose of earthy hops.
The flavor was mainly sweet with the same sort of aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, seemed to sit just a touch under. Had a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, pretty good red lager easy to come back to and easy to take down.
