On tap at The Lark in East Northport, NY (last night, 10/30/13); pours pitch black color with a 1 finger tan that faded slowly and left minimal lacing.

Smells of roasted grains, oatmeal, burnt wood/charcoal, molasses, cocoa powder and brown sugar; toasty and malty with a sweetness that comes through the roasted notes with just a hint of pumpkin-a nice stout nose.

Tastes of roasted grains, oatmeal, burnt wood/charcoal, molasses, cocoa powder, pumpkin, nutmeg, caramel, syrup, burnt cracker, coffee and brown sugar; this is like a coffee stout with a hint of pumpkin in it and it works well.

Mouthfeel is medium and chewy, with mild carbonation, a medium body and a smoky coffee/roasted grain aftertaste that fades on the sweet side.

Overall a good stout that was even better because it’s a fall seasonal in the "pumpkin" theme; a nice change of pace brew.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass.

A -- dark black. Pillowy tan head with good retention. Nice lacing.

N -- fall spices and roasty malts.

T -- fall spices. Roasty malts. Pumpkin flavor. Very well balanced.

M -- medium bodied and smooth.

O -- love the idea. Love that it isn't over the top spicy or boozy. Very good. Cheers.

The beer pours out pitch black with a huge huge 3 finger tan head.

The aroma has roasty malt, sweet grainy pumpkin, spices, cinnamon, a bit of chocolate.

The flavor follows with roasty malt, chocolate, and coffee. The beer melds perfectly into pumpkin and the spices along with earthy bitterness on the end.

I do somewhat wish it was a bigger bolder beer, but then, I'm also so impressed by how well the beer is crafted (stout and pumpkin integration).

A- very dark, almost black. Off-white head to about an inch. After a few minutes, it subsided into a ring around the edge of my glass.

S- roasted malts, yeast? Sweet fermented fruits, raisins, some faint hints of spice. cinnamon, brown sugar. I can faintly smell the alcohol.

T- A little fruity, some chocolate, some sweetness, roasted malt, some faint hops, not detecting any spices or-wait, is this a pumpkin beer? I am not detecting any pumpkin.

M- A little chewy, quite nice. Not too carbonated, smooth and creamy.

O- Overall this is a great stout. A really great stout. However, it just tastes like...a great stout. I cannot taste and pumpkin or even any spices. Because of that I am taking some points off as it's not really consistent with the style (pumpkin ale, or pumpkin stout) as it doesn't show any signs of pumpkin flavor. I would recommend this highly though if you would like a nice stout with a higher ABV. It is just shy of an imperial stout, which is nice as you might be able to drink two or three of these in a night, which is hard to do with an imperial stout...unless you are drinking to get drunk...but then you probably wont be drinking an imperial stout for that.

FYI, I am eating a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and it pairs really well!

Pours into a becker a deep dark chocolate color with a nice creamy beige head that never really completely settles, just a nice creamy mass with a few broken rings of lace left behind.Aromas pumpkin pie spice, chocolate, and mild coffee roast.A fucll creamy feel in the mouth,it glides down very easy, cinnamon and nutmeg on the palate with roast playing a backup role,a little chocolate in the finish. It is just a tad sweet for me to be considered great but the feel is top notch and it has nice flavors.
