On-tap at Barcade, Jersey City, NJ

A: The beer is hazy light yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white head.
S: Light aromas of yeast and malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of yeast and nondescript malts—no spices are noticeable.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems a little too malty compared to other beers in the style and lacks any dryness. It definitely doesn't taste refreshing compared to most other saisons.

On-tap 4/25/2012 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma contains wheat, strawberries, Belgian yeast, bananas, some spice and some hops.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of strawberries, bananas and spices. Then some bready flavors of wheat, Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sweet.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a decent beer to drink for a while.

An aggressive pour still only yields a light fizzy head covering that fades fairly quickly and forgets to leave lacing, over a semi hazy nectar darker orange colored beer.

NOse is a little weird, it has some saison aromas, light wheat like and almost hay malts, hint of saison spices, but quickly turns to fruity aromas, blood orange, little fruit punch, clementine, strawberries actually kinda fresh, a light rhubarb too, but it has a syrupy fruit syrup like aroma as well which gives it that candy like.

Taste brings tons of strawberry, fresh strawberry, a little juice, again syrupy strawberry candy, a light tart bitter rhubarb, fairly fruity, a light clementine citrus again I think from the saison this time, light saison spices which actually go well with the fruit and the bitter tangy rhubarb, light wheat and malts, fluffy, and a light but decent bitterness I think mostly from the rhubarb. Finish is a bit sweet and sticky, little syrupy still, more candy flavors, a little fruit but that mostly dries up, little strawberry syrup sticks to the sides of the mouth.

Mouth is med to lighter bodied, little sticky and syrupy, carb on the lighter side.

Overall OK, I hate to say it but more of a "girly" like beer. It has some nice flavors, but they seemed to get sweet and more candy like for the fruits. The rhubarb adds a nice interesting bitterness and some tangy flavors, but not much, and the saison is mostly gone if it was there to begin with. However, still not a bad beer.

Small head but it does leave an initial ring of lace then some spots afterwards. Cloudy amber color.

Sour with a combination of rinds from lemons and oranges.

Very tart like unsweetened lemonade. Almost like a lambic. The carbonation is low but I wouldn't describe the body as rich. This is a one-trick pony of a beer--there's little else to describe.

Served on-tap at Barcade in Jersey City, NJ

A: Pours a hazy pale yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some faint lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall sudsy white head that reduces to a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of pale malts with some light to moderate aromas of peppery yeast and light hints of lemon.

T: The taste of this beer is primarily of malts but not just pale malts, perhaps pale malts with some hint of adjuncts. The peppery yeast that is present in the aroma is lacking in the taste. Minimal amounts of bitterness are present but fade quickly.

M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: I was a little surprised by the lack of dryness in this saison as it seemed a little atypical of the style. I was also disappointed that the spicy yeasts did not come through in the flavors and it lacked the refreshing qualities I expect from a saison.

The colour is gold (10 EBC), the liquid got some passing chill haze. The finger thick head is off-white, it sinks slowly leaving no lacing.

The smell is sweet with lots of strawberry jam and other red berries. Hints of cinnamon and some clean bitter flavours.

The taste is bitter-sweet with some tart notes in the background. Lots of strawberry jam and red fruit syrup. Some phenolic yeast notes. Medium body. The aftertaste is a bit tart with clean strawberry flavours. Hints of salt and lots of fruits in the finish.

The carbonation is strong, the big bubbles are long-lived. The liquid is semi-smooth.

Too much fruits for my taste.

Had on tap at the New World Tavern Plymouth, MA

Appearance: minimal head, orange-brown in color, cloudy, low carbonation

Smell: strawberries and hay

Taste: big strawberries at the start--light rhubarb and hay, then a big wheaty middle, light pepper and Belgian spices at the end.

Mouthfeel: light carbonation, medium-light bodied, slightly sweet and funky

Overall: A pleasant and different take on the saison style. Almost like a strawberry wheat crossed a saison. I really like this. Could not drink it all day, but very refreshing.

A-Pours a hazy orange color with a subtle pinkish undertone. Head is of normal stature. Head is off-white and retains pretty well.

S-Smells of the rhubarb/strawberry combo. However, underneath the fruity notes is a pretty nice Saison nose. Yeasty and spicy with light grass. Smells quite interesting.

T-The rhubarb and strawberries are more of an accent to the Saison flavors. Belgian yeast and spice with some bread and light grass. The juicy fruit sweetness is there all along but not obnoxiously stressed on the palate.

M-Medium body with a smooth feel. Carbonation is a bit mild. Juicy feel as well.

O/D-A cool beer. Worth a try. The fruits are set to the right pitch. It isn't one of those beers that is one-sided and only tastes of artificial fruit flavors. Pretty nice and a tad refreshing.

Apparently this recipe was adopted from a local homebrew club and calls for copious amounts of rhubarb and strawberries.

Thick and chunky white head like a dollop of vanilla frosting. Opaque orange custard color. Decent retention left thick foamy splotches.

Reeks of saison spice and to a lesser extent, strawberry toaster strudel filling.

Taste carries a great saison spiciness but none of the expected dryness. Possibly the first saison I've ever had with a juice-like mouthfeel. The rhubarb and strawberries are there, actually before I knew what fruit was in it I thought of grapefruit without the bitterness.

Hooray for trying new things. Probably the best beer I've had from Cape Ann thus far.

Clear bright gold with a foamy head that disappears.

Yeasty and musty up front, with some fruit sweetness in the nose.

Very pleasantly surprised by the yeasty note tied to the fruit sweetness. A little to rich, but I still liked it. Needed a little more coarse bitterness. The fruit shines more than the grain and bitterness. OK balance.

Medium to medium light body.

I lik this brewer a lot, and they usually come up with solid beer. This has some flaws, but it is still very likable. Worth a shot.

On tap last night at the brewery. Served in a standard pint glass. Very hazy orange body. Thin head. Smell was sugary and citrus-like. Taste was very interesting. The info there says that this beer was brewed with 90 lbs of rhubarb and 240 lbs of strawberries. It had a bit of the taste of a saison, but it really was more like a fruit beer. Mouthfeel was nice, as it was smooth and I found it very easy to drink, like a witbier. The higher abv was not noticeable. An unique beer that I read was a take on a homebrew club recipe. Worth a try, because who knows if they'll make it again. Everyone in my group liked it.

Drank from a 12fl.oz. bottle at Blue Lobster Grille, Rockport, MA
Served in a pint glass

The beer poured a hazy, medium amber color and was topped by a fleeting crown of thin, light tan foam.

Strawberry notes dominated the aroma. I could hardly pick up anything else. Touch of sweet malts. Slightly wheaty.

The flavor profile was quite strawberry forward as well, yet it was definitely more complex than the nose. Strawberry notes melded with sweet malts on the front end. The sweetness faded in the center and the saison-like qualities came forth. Belgian yeast notes were apparent. Lots of orange peel. The finish was spicy, lemony and tart, and it contained notes of husky grains.

The mouthfeel was pretty ordinary. Medium bodied with a moderate effervescence.

Although this beer seems a bit hokey, it is still flavorful and immensely drinkable. This would definitely hit the spot on a hot summer day.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a clear amber/orange. Large particles in suspension. Head formation and retention is awful. Just a few whispy patches of lacing.

S: Fragrant with a strawberry-banana scent. Subtle orange peel. Shortbread. Touch of vague spice and some tropical ester. Ghost-like tartness. Cleaner than the average saison.

T: Spicy up front with tastes of cinnamon, coriander, and pepper. Strawberry-banana, orange marmalade. Shortbread and a hint of toast. Hop oils are briefly encountered. Finishes with a strawberry shortcake impression and a lingering peppery spice.

M: Light to medium bodied. Very bright and crisp with an aggressive carbonation. Creamy.

O: Really not saison-esque in the least, the yeast is far too neutral for that. If you can get past the fact that it isn't a saison, it's a decent beer. The strawberries really pop, and its crisp, refreshing properties mean that it will hit the spot on a summer scorcher.

a: pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with half finger white foamy head that doesn't stick around too long. Not quite the hazy straw yellow I expect with a saison but I don't mind that.

s: dried apricots, malt, saison yeast, not much hop aroma to speak of

t: malt sweetness up front, then apricot and peach dominate with a bitter, dry finish and some breadiness as well

m: light to medium mouthfeel with good carbonation

o: a solid saison, unlike any I've had. I really enjoy the strong apricot notes.
