Bottle (best by 4/27/08) poured into a Pilsner glass.

A- It poured a lightish gold color with a fluffy white head that left big sticky rings.

S- There was a decent doughy aroma with very light fruity hop tones.

T- More bread and fresh fruit flavors.

M- Clean taste with a bunch of carbonation.

D- It's a pretty easy drinker.

Overall- It's not a bad beer. It's definitely a step up from most of the domestic macros.

It has a pale yellow color with a frothy white head. The aroma is light with a grainy and hay like nose. The flavor has a bland cereal grain malt with some grassy hops. A thin body lively carbonation and a clean finish make it very drinkable and refreshing. For a pale lager it's about what you would expect but for over 5 bucks for a 12 oz. bottle at the Outback Steakhouse, its way over priced.

12 ouncer, best before dating etched onto the bottle.

A- Pours clear, medium golden, with mucho larger bubbles rising to the top, white minor head, that leaves some sliding lace.

S- Sweet nose, corn?

T- Don't drink this one for the "taste"...

M- Middle of the road macro at best

D- Lawnmower beer, and that is being kind

I decided to write an unbiased review while drinking this from the bottle (fresh twist-tops - 250mL throwies) and it's really unnecessary. Before tonight I hadn't had anything to drink for over a month, to get my head straight, and tonight I started with a 330mL Chimay, which was delicious, but when I moved on to the New, it made me want to stop drinking again, at least until I can get hold of a longneck of Cooper's. The smell is actually the worst part, but I agree it tastes really chemical, artificial and offensive, but even I can overlook these in a dingy dive with two jugs of this for $5. Tastes like shite; gets you maggot.

As a standard macro beer, you'd expect it to be at least drinkable.......wrong, horribly chemicaly and is only drinkable when ice cold (and i'm talking like 0 degrees) so that you can't taste the flavour, horrific.

Why am i drinking this beer???? Well they have started to import this beer to Sweden and i was a little curious to try it. But i'm not very curious anymore... What is there to say about it? Not much!! It doesn't taste much. It doesn't taste anything. There is a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste and there is a hint of citrus in the smell and in the taste. The colour is golden. But that is the only gold this beer gets.

Not alot to say about this poor example of a beer. I remember once having one from a bottle, thinking, hmm. This tastes better than it usually does. I held it up to the light. And realized there was floaties in my bottle. The beer was a few years old.
And it improved it.

Tooheys New

Appearance- Light copper brown with a thick soapy head. No lacing and the head disappated quickly.
Smell- Sweet corn syrup and rice, basically adjunct.
Taste- A sweet corn and rice mixture. Some sugary malt that becomes metallic.
Mouthfeel- Sweet and flat up front with a tangy metallic finish.

Overall- Blahhh. A cheap macro here, nothing more. Use it for drinking games.

12.7 oz. twist-off

AP: Crazy, spiraling bubbles, crystal clear golden color, 2" thick, bubbly all-white head that dissiptes to almost nothing quickly.

Nose: Bready makt, wheat, very, very subtle herbal hop, corn and grains. Metallic sourness after a while in the glass.

Flavor: a very thin corn and wheat malt flavor, very light and subtle flavors, basically not much more impressive than the usual imported macro lager.

Feel: light, crisp, becomes softer and flatter after only a little while.

DA: Pair this rather meek brew with some spicey indian food and the sweet malt flavors really pop out a bit more.

Beer(?) of my outing to Outback for dinner.

Poured clear gold with a white head of semi-course bubbles that receded and vanished with a minute or two.

Had a basic, grainy macro lager smell that was rather weak.

Taste was also grainy and somewhat sweet and a little metallic. No hops were detected, just some more corny sweetness at the finish. Several times during my meal I had forgotten this beer was sitting next to me and I was drinking from my mug of water at least as often. Not a beer I'd seek out again.

Tried this one at Outback Steakhouse...when in Rome right?

A - I like the bottle, and this beer pours a dark bronze hue with minimal head and only a little creamy lace on the glass. Not much to look at really, but I appreciate the darker shade for the style.

S - I smell some deep (for the style) oatmeal notes along with some grainy husky aromas. This smells decent enough. It's actually pretty assertive for the style.

T - This is husky and grainy, with a unique flavor that almost reminds me of baked beans or something. not bad at all.

M - Light, but approaching medium bodied with a good deal of carbonation and a creamy finish.

D - If this is called a macro lager, it's right up there with the good but slightly boring Japanese lagers. This is similar to Asahi or Kiriin Ichiban...must be the Pacific DNA.

Toohey's New... not bad, but nothing new. It's pretty standard. I guess they figured it was a good name to launch a new beer with.

It pours a golden colored body beneath a thick head of frothy white. It looks good initially, but the head falls rather quickly to an average collar, and only minimal lacing is left behind.

The aroma is fairly generic, displaying straight-forward golden maltiness and a bit of hops.

The flavor delivers sweetish malt upfront, but with a solid bitterness and a decent amount of herbal, grassy, and spicy hops mixed in it, it's completely balanced. It finishes dry, and short lingering as the hops fade.

In the mouth it's medium bodied and smooth.

So, Australian for beer? Ahh, maybe not. It's alright. I'd have another but I don't think it has great drinkability. I'd compare it to most euro lagers on that score. It's a solid lager though, and nicely done though. Cheers!

What the hell isn't there to like about this Aussie kick ass beer. Sure it may not be the best beer one has ever tasted...but it sure aint the worst. This is a smooth drinkable lager that can rival any shit macro in the states. It is better than BUD, Genuine, Heini-shit, Amstel, etc!!!! It is light copper color, with no real identifyable scent. Taste is solid and I COULD DRINK FOR HOURS!!!! HELLO!!! Stay thirsty my friends!

12.7oz bottle

A- Pours a golden yellow color with a fizzy white head that leaves a decent amount of lacing around the glass.

S- The aroma is grain with just a hint of sulfur and a touch of grassy hops. The aroma is also a little metallic, nothing really special here.

T- The taste like the aroma is light bodied with some grain and not much in the way of hops except for just a touch of grassy hop bitterness way in the back.

M- The mouthfeel is light bodied and fizzy from the high amount of carbonation.

D- This is a below average lager that I really wouldn't have any interest in drinking again. Not a bad beer, but nothing really stands out at all to warrant a repeat purchase.

This ended up being a very average beerfrom color and aroma down to the taste.

poured the color of what the average beer drinker would think what a beer should look like . orange , gold color.

Had a white , finger size head that faded rather quickly , lots of carbonation . the nitro widget held some but not much . left a little cap of lace.

aroma was like the smell of your local bar. a little stale smell.

slight bitterness from the hops but nothing that really stands out , some fruit , and a little sweet all mixed in. had a carb. tingle on the tongue.
over all a very average beer . nothing to go out of the way for.

Poured from a brown 12.7? oz. bottle. Has a light brown color with a very small head. Aroma is of mild malts and grains. Taste a tad malty with some bitterness, not a whole lot of flavor. Feels light in the mouth and has average drinkability. Overall this is a mediocre selection.

A: Poured a very clear medium orange with a thin, fizzy off white head that quickly dissipated while leaving a slight rim lacing. Overall very ordinary at best.

S: The nose had light traces of caramel, and oranges. Again not much here.

T: oranges and sweet caramel with some sweet honey malt. A brisk carbonation and dry oranges comes through in the finish.

M: The mouthful was light with some effervesce around the edges with some dry caramel.

D: less then average drinkability, though unlikely I would sit around and drink in multiples or anytime in the near future.

Tasted somewhere in Southwest Rocks.

Hmmm... I visited Australia to taste something suspiciously similar to Budweiser.... Well, it's yellowed with white head; Not much to smell here. Taste is crisp and slightly sweet. Not very full in the mouth. Clearly the attempt here was at something easy to knock back a lot of....

Overall, inoffensive, but not worthwhile.
