This place basically is a dumpy, dirty little deli/bodega that happens to stock a s%^$ load of differant beers. Only a few blocks from Central park and the museum of Nat History. All the brew is along the left side of the store as you enter, either in a run down cooler unit or on the wall shelving unit. Selection is extensive with many of the usual suspects and a bunch of other more esoteric imports, for example beer from Vietnam, Macau, trinidad etc. what was lacking was much or a selection of regional micros. Prices are way out of line....I agree with the other 2 earlier reviews, walk down town a few blocks for more sensible options. This place only makes sense in a pinch. I did get a bottle of fresh Uerige Doppelsticke, so it was a worthwhile beerhunting expedition.

I stopped here because it was a block from my hotel. It is a tiny little deli with about 2 doors of coolers with beer. They have coffee, lunch meat, and some emergency food supplies and the beer is tucked in the side of the deli. They had a few 6 packs of BMC with a few singles of local 12 oz. bottles and a few 40s of common beers. I did find a gem, of sly fox Christmas Ale in the back of the cooler.

It was good to find one or two common local beers that I hadn't tried but not worth a stop if you live in the city.

This small store on Amsterdam in the Upper West Side had a good number of unusual beer bottles in the window so I decided to check it out.

Pros: Some unusual beers, solid German selections
Cons: Expensive, Belgians could be better, poor service

Some of the unusual beers there were: Quelque Chose, Raftman, Samuel Smith's Imperial, Wickse Witte, Rauchenfelser Steinbrau, Riggwelter, Fire Fox.

Some of the prices were very high: $5 for a small Duvel. $15 for a 750 of Lindeman's. The staff was bordering on rude.

Bottom line: Although they carry a nice selection, I do most of my beer shopping at Pioneer and Fairway when I'm in the neighborhood.

They have a good selection for such a small market. Had Ommegang, Chimay, Unibroue, Corsendunk, McSorley's, and more. The prices are ok, the service is bad and if the price isn't one it they charge you the same price as a simimilar sized bottle so make sure the price is on it.

Personally I think it's worth the walk down to 74th and Broadway, four blocks down one block over, to Fairway market. Better prices and a bigger selection, but they do have some items that Fairway didn't. They also just through all the bottles in one bag and double bagged it, so all the bottles were clanking together.
