Golden, straw like colour. Nose was very light and fresh with a good wiff of banana. The first sip was lacking in complexity. Missing were the traditional "intense" flavours of banana and clove. This weissbier was too light. Small, very small, hints of banana and smooth, almost creamy, citrus finish. Still, on a warm summer day, this would be a decent refresher.

This is okay. Pours cloudy gold with a big white head, as expected. Aroma is good banana and clove, with a lot of wheat and yeast. The taste does not follow through. All that you want is there, but it just tastes a little weak. Its good, but not great.

Light and refreshing German style wheat, citursy, clovey with some banana, quite nice, but far from the best German-style wheat i"ve had. I also preffered this to the dunkel weiss, i thought the balance was far superior. Nice and refreshing beer, uncomplex, but well balanced, and quite tasty. Fine by me.

This austrian weiss bier pours a light haze golden colour into the glass. The head is big, thick and white. Also long lasting. Has a fresh aroma with lots of bananas and clove. You have the bananas in the taste too, along with some citrus. Also wheat and yeast in the taste. Frsh aftertaste with some hints of hops. A very nice weiss bier.

Nice not overpowering aroma. Looks appetizing creamy white. Smooth mouthfeel. Not too sweet, bit of bitter aftertaste. Nice balances. Ready to finish the 500ml. right off, but know how a bit of wheat style really adds value to a bunch of burgers. Citrus, cloves, good summer beer and possibly
Best wheat beer?

Had this beer in my local pub on tap, served in the official Edelweiss Weizen Glass.
A: Honey colored brew with a white head.
S: The smell is great, a little lemon zest mixed with honey and wheat, fruity aroma.
T: The taste mirrors the smell, you can taste the wheat. the zest and honey, a good taste that lasts.
M: the mouthfeel is very rich, it's very thick and filling.
D: The beer is quite drinkable, yet I believe it's more of a session beer and I'd rather have a pint or 2, but no more.
Overall this is a great wheat beer with a mesmerizing aroma and a good taste.

Pours an effervescent bronze with 4 fingers of fluffy white head. Some lacing & head retention

S: Slight smokeyness, or is this OTT cloves(?) & bubblegum

T: Smokeyness, bubblegum & a little honey sweetness up front. Finishes dry, bubblegummy, slightly fruitty, juicy, & again, smokey

MF: Medium bodied with brisk carbonation

Drinks pretty good, we sure this aint from Bamberg?

Appearance – Pours a hazy yellow with lots of foamy white head. Just about right for a Hefe.

Smell – I smell some banana, honey, grain, yeast, and citrus hops. Nice regular Hefe smell but slightly on the weak side.

Taste –Starts off with a nice honey dew flavor. I begin to taste the banana and clove I expect from a Hefe and then get a grainy citrus hop flavor to finish. It’s very nice and balanced which makes for pleasant sipping.

Mouthfeel – The carbonation on this one was a little sharp for my taste. Body was about right with a fairly light creamy feel.

Drinkability – Great. I downed this effortlessly and enjoyed every drop.

Come summer and you’re looking for a Hefe Weizen don’t rule this one out.

05 2013 printed on the label.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a monstrous head that did not want to settle and just hung at three fingers.

Wonderful aromatic weiss beer. All the usual hefeweizen aromas are present such as banana, bubblegum, cloves, and wheat all blended together perfectly.

The flavor is not as impressive but still a good tasting hefe. The yeast did not totally take over as the wheat malt plays the biggest part. Notes of banana and cloves.

Feels a little thin and watery. For all the action during the pour, the carbonation is quite low. Overall the texture was a disappointment.

A good old world hefe. Too bad the greatness did not go beyond the aroma into the flavor and other areas.

Poured a cloudy lemony-orange colour with about a half inch of fizzy white head. The colour is quite pale, reminds me of a witbier's colour. The head dissappeared quickly and left a thin lace around the glass.

The smell has a strong clove presence as well as citrus and wheat.

Taste starts with banana sweetness, moves on to a bubble gum and finishes with a smoky clove flavour. Something about the taste of this beer left me unhappy. It's aftertaste is fairly bitter, and has left the back of my mouth feeling filmy.

Mouthfeel is a bit on the watery side, very light. I can't say that the beer is hard to drink, but the taste is keeping me from wanting to finish.

I won't be back to this beer, I didn't even finish this bottle. There are so many better Hefe's to choose from.

The best Wheat beer ever tasted in a bottle IMO.. this citrusy clovey cloudy Weizen is prefect in carbonation and body... very thirst quenching and balanced with a rich foamy head throughout and a smooth mouthfeel as well as being highly drinkable.. too bad I can't find it on tap and compare.. If you can find this Wheat beer it's worth it.

When poured into my glass, this brew had a large white creamy head with small bubbles that fully diminished. The body was clear and pale yellow in hue. The carbonation was fizzy with this brew. The aroma was that of citrus, banana and clove. The more I drank of this brew the smoother the taste became and the more I enjoyed it. A good brew to drink on a warm summer day.

Pours cloudy straw/pale amber with a huge white head.
Nose shows doughy wheat, spicy phenols and some vegetal characters.
Flavours are similar with weak doughy wheat, steamed vegetables and practically no bitterness.
Body seems watery.
A bit tame in the way of flavours/aromas, but very welcome on a hot day.

Bottle : Poured a yellow hazy beer with a nice head with average retention. Aroma is purely comprised of wheat, although it seemed like this brand of wheat had a very floral nature. Taste is very refreshing with again the taste of wheat taking over. Overall, this is an above average hefeweizen and perfect drink for those hot summer days.

I first had this at a beer fest in Arcadia, CA about four years ago. I've been looking for it and finally found it in a liquor store today.
As wheat beers are my favorite style, I was fairly drooling by the time I got home.
What poured from the bottle was a cloudy, pale gold colored beer with a big white head. The headed petered out fairly quickly to a small cap but left some nice lace all the way to the bottom. Okaayy......
The smell hooked me. I got a great smell of lots of spice; cloves and some other I couldn't I.D., and some banana. Now I'm getting somewhere...
The taste was spicy-sweet banana and cloves, etc but not with the same intensity as weissbiers auf Deutschland. Edelweiss lacked the almost bubblegum flavor I've experienced in some others. It wasn't as sweet but that's not a problem. Virtually no bitterness.
The feel was rather dry , very smooth and refreshing.
I had to consciously slow down to keep from just knocking back the glass. I could drink this one all day. Very refreshing and has a slightly off the main path taste that was quite appealing after a long, hot day.

Great summertime when there are plenty of hefeweiss beers to try.

Colour rather pale yellow, lemon colour, slightly hazy, big soapy head, ok carbonation.
Smell is good, of wheat and yeast, banana citrus and clove. Nice.
Taste is faint, mellow. It holds some malts and citrus and banana, good ones, but not overwhelming.
Smooth mouthfeel, yet refreshing carbonation.
It's easy drinkable.

Not a bad brew, but I'd like it to have more flavour.

Don't mind this hefe at all. Although it is a bit filing. Very nice thick white and long lasting head. Some nice lacing. Smells like a hefe to me, a little spice here and there. Smooth and refreshing. Nice to have 1 or 2 on a hot day at camp or while cooking on the q.

Bottle at Pannenkoekenrestaurant Oude Mueller, Utrecht, Netherlands

A: The beer is rather hazy yellow in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of wheat and bananas are present in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of wheat along with notes of bananas from the yeast.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and as some refreshing properties. It is not a bad choice to enjoy sitting next to a canal on a warm day.

An unfiltered wheat beer, the bread/yeast character was a little too strong. Somewhat flat and uninspiring.

Poured from a brown 500ml bottle with freshness date right there on the front label. A light hazy straw colour, big creamy white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma of banana, citrus and metal, small hint of spice. Flavour is very up front and rolls off the tongue, clove, sweet malt, spicy citrus. Mouthfeel is light but satisfying. A decent offering for the style.

A pleasant light lemon yellow color on the pour with a bit of “Chill Haze”, the head immodest in size, creamy in its texture and the lace forms nice sheets to cling to the glass. Hints of yeast and the pleasant musk or bread dough I always look for in this style, citrus crisp and clean, quite pleasant to the senses. Overly sweet at the start, which is a prevalent problem in this whole line of beers at least for me, the overbearing sweetness. Finnish is mildly carbonated, the hops adequate, and the aftertaste dry and long lasting. Not bad beers by any means, they just seem to over whelm me with the sticky sweetness, but a drinkable beer nonetheless and worthy of a sample.

Healthy banana aromas, quite clear (for a weiss) even after adding yeast. Taste is weak, watery. Good sized head. Why touch this when there's so many other good hefeweizens around? Disappointing. It wasn't nearly bold enough to rate merit. Maybe decent for weaning someone off of Bud...

Poured a pale, cloudy, straw-yellow colour with a huge head. After about 5 mins, the head subsides and leaves patches of lacing which clings to the glass. Looks quite elegant.

Smells smokey, cloves, and citrusy. Quite pleasant.

Very carbonated - each sip is spicy, right to the end. After a while, it becomes almost 'sticky' and lingers around your tongue. Goes down quite easy,

The taste is somewhat lacking. Was certainly expecting a bit more after the intial pour.

Best before date is right on the bottom of the label.

Comes in a tall tapered brown half liter bottle with a plain but classy white and green label. Purity law, of course. Best before 8/04, I opened it on 11/6/03.

Pours a beautiful diffused yellowish gold that defines the style. The snow white head was tall and thick, with plenty of contour and even more staying power. My only objection is a lack of lace. The nose is an excellent bouquet of wheat, yeast, spice and citrus sweetness. The mouth is light and prickly, as the style requires. The opening taste is outstanding - lots of wheat, a bit of yeast, some clove and some citrus tanginess. The finish has a nice hoppy bite - rare in this style, but very appealing to this hop head. The aftertaste retains the bitterness, while reviving the wheat and yeast to form a very pleasant combination. This is one of the better wheats I've tried. My wife, a regular wheat drinker, was also impressed..
