Pours with absolutely no head, a cloudy peach-gold color. Smells of vanilla and apricots, which is definitely the beer's strong point. Taste has the characteristic sweet/sour dichotomy of a Lambic, with a very sharp, dry finish and an aftertaste like white wine. Mouthfeel is flat and heavy. Maybe fans of English beers or barley wines would appreciate it but its just too flat for me. Drinkability is limited by the dry finish which makes me want to get something to drink. Which, on second thought, may enhance the drinkability. An interesting combination of flavors in this one, vanilla notes fail to overcome the beer's sweet/sour apricot flavor but they complement it nicely. Overall, I'd have to say its a beer that just doesn't meet its potential, but you can tell its in there somewhere.

pours with minimal 10% head....smells of bready yeast. BBD 07-2009.

acidic taste, not pleasant. metallic acidic notes, cannot find the vanilla. character reminds me some of cochonne, which I also found rather unpleasant on more than one occasion.

Further into the bottle the malty yeasty taste mellows some, but still unclear what the point of this beer is. further into it some spice (vanllla?) notes come out, finally. not enough to save the day.

aftertaste is similarly unremarkable, malty nothingness.

I have found beer of this character over a number of years from this brewery and thus am actually reviewing this, as it appears to be either a batch consistency issue or a brewery characteristic that I (and some others) are finding in this beer.

This was the second of three beers tasted from Vapeur that I received for Christmas. Poured a cloudy, pale golden color with virtually no head. Smell was sour and tart, with hints of vanilla. Taste mimicked the smell, with sour/tartness dominating at the beginning and light vanilla flavors at the end. Light on the mouth but not alot going on. It goes down okay, but the unique flavor makes it difficult to have more than one or two. Overall, a beer with some unique flavors and worth a try. Would probably be a good beer to have during the summer months.

BB end 2007. Nice golden collor with litle opalizing haze. Nose is some vanilla but sourness around it, almost no maltyness and especially after opening a litle sewer note. After getting used to acceptable nose though. Taste is very pale and sourish with a vanilla touch. To me no real beer anymore though and don't get the tard taste. No body and except for sourness no mouthfeel at all. Drinkable but to me no enjoyment.

Smell of vanilla, anise, and a lot of pepper. Colour clear and bright, the head is not persistent. The taste particular, and difficult to define: although the name, the vanilla is just a light note. More evident is citron (cedar), maybe orange, and clove. The pepper is again a little too strong. The body is thin.
