This Cost Plus is literally at the end of my street and about a three minute walk. I'd be happier about it if I were a wine drinker. Despite a very nice wine selection, the beer selection is hit-and-miss. Even when the shop is well-stocked, it has a limited selection. You're likely to find Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard, Bear Republic Racer 5, Anchor Porter, and various beer from Fuller's, Franziskaner, and other Euros. I wonder about how long their beers sit around in hot warehouses but have never gotten a "bad" beer from this Cost Plus. Finding help with beer-or with any merchandise for that matter-can be a very frustrating experience. Checking out can be even more frustrating. With so few employees in the store, shoppers usually save their questions for the cashier. I've spent 15 minutes behind one woman with a few glasses and candles. If I need beer quickly, want to walk, and am not feeling particularly choosy about what I'll drink, this isn't a bad spot. Otherwise, I'll hit the shops a little farther away with a better selection and more knowledgeable staff.

This is not a store for beer. If you want inexpensive trendy household furnishings, cheap glasses, imported cookies and candy, towels and coffee cups, and the like, go to Cost Plus...otherwise, if you want beer, go somewhere else.
The selection is limited and spoty. Now, having said that, I happened to find one of my favorite beers here (Affligem Triple) at the lowest price anywhere! So, you can get some deals. But, it was a bit of an accident and this is not a "beer destination" place.
Good for a lot of things, including cheap wine. Not good for beer.

Relatively new location of the chain yuppie store. This location is located at Ventura Blvd and Sepulveda at the end of the terrifically old school yuppie stretch of Ventura Blvd.
Past all the odd duck African carvings and candle holders, baskets and chairs is the food/wine beer section. Stacked high on wooden shelves is a pretty wide beer selection, but this is the kind of store that sells a microbrew sampler that includes Abita, Dixie, etc.
Corked beers seem to be a danger factor here at Cost Plus where I've had a fair number of corked Belgian 750's with a shockingly high percentage of corked and oxidized brews (running at about ~50%)
So beware, enjoy the odd knick knacks, but even here in LA we can find most of the things they offer here elsewhere in our burg.
