On tap at the House Ales launch party, collaboration with Flying Monkeys. Served in a flute, 5oz sample.

Pours almost still, black body with no head and some decent legs. Nose is sweet, dark and milk chocolate notes, molasses, cocoa and light charcoal. Fusel alcohol supports all of these notes immensely. Taste has lots of strong alcoholic notes upfront, with some chocolate and vinous/dark fruit notes thrown in. Alcohol overpowers and muddles all of these flavours however. Syrupy in texture, mild bitterness in the finish likely attributable to the chocolate. Not the best in show tonight, and would benefit from being left alone to develop for some time. Throw some in a barrel?

House Ales/Flying Monkey's Colaboration. Hoouse Ales launch at Volo

Pours absolutley jet black, light soapy head around the edges of the glass, no lace to speak of. Smell is roasty malt and alcohol, bittersweet chocolate and coffee, biteer points come through. Taste is boozy initialy, sweet notes as well, touches of bakers chocolate, lightly metalic at first, smoothed out as it warmed though. Full body, lighly syrupy, very light carbonation. Not bad, the alcohol is through the roof here, probably closer to 18%, 4oz is plenty, a sipper for sure.

House Ales fest at Volo. Seems a lot boozier than 14%. Aroma is booze and some roast and chooolate. taste is boozy, rubbing alcohol and some roast and chocolate. A little coconut. Dark colour absolutely no head. Better as it warmed.A bit disapointing but not that bad.
