Nice amber color, the smell and appearance are pleasant enough.

I had a pint at the brewery and picked up a 6-pack of bottles on the way home. It was in the refrigerator for a week before I had another Mass Transit.

I grabbed a bottle from the refrigerator (after a 3-mile walk) and ended up having three. I can picture sitting on the porch during a summer afternoon and downing a lot of this brew.

Had on tap at the Bristol taproom. Poured into pint glass a light caramel color. Beer is lightly carbonated with a nice white head, no lacing observed. Smell is sweet and fruity, with a slight vinegary scent present although not in a bad way at all. Perhaps that is the spiciness of the hops bringing out that smell. Taste is very nice and malty/sweet, with a very faint hop finish. This is one beer that I could drink quite a few of, one of the better session brews I've had in a while.

Pours a light shade of amber, not quite golden and very clear, with a little bit of foam that quickly dissipates to thin collar of bubbles. The aroma is neutral and boring. Light bodied and clean tasting with gently hop accented malt flavors. The finish is over quick with a little burst of woody tasting hops and little bitterness or dryness. Could be easily consumed in "mass" quantities and think that's the point.

Amber color, creamy head, some lacing. Slight smell of leather, some hops and spice. Not enough malt, resulting in a sagging middle. There is a disturbing acidic-bitterness that lingers. Other reviewers have noted that some additions might help this ale, but by the same argument, if you put a 327 in the PT Cruiser, it would be a better car. But since you can’t get one, it is a moot point. Bristol could add more hops and malt and ___, and ____, and - it wouldn’t be Mass Transit. There are better ale choices out there.

Presentation: 12oz brown bottle. Bottle date on the side.

Appearance: Hazy orange amber beer with a white foamy/creamy head. Settles to an ample lace with good rentention and firmness.

Smell: Spicy hop aroma, slightly pungent with fruity esters. Chinook hops all the way, even a bit eye watering with a woody character.

Taste: Even bodied, with an even smooth mouthfeel. Decently balanced in that no single flavour dominates. Malt sweetness is thin, hop bitterness has a limey twang to it with a touch of salt and background seltzer water taste, also thin. Finish is pretty clean, overall.

Notes: Even though there's not a whole hell of a lot going on with this brew, it is balanced ... and extremely easy to drink, making it an awesome session beer. "Mellow, effortless, groovy. Enjoy!" ... just like the bottle says.

Thanks to Arctic Liquors for the sample.
