I like this Trader Joe's a lot. This store at the corner of PCH and 2nd/Westminster Blvd. is typical of their beer selection. They have a lot of imported lager type beers, some English stuff such as Sam Smith's and a lot of American micros, along with their house brews, the Trader Joe's brewing company. Prices are exceptionally cheap, with some singles coming in well under a dollar. Not the best selection in the world, but the price is right, and they also sell a lot of good food, so I like to frequent this place if I'm ever in the area, it's only 10 minutes or so from my house.

What I like about Trader Joes is that whilst many beers are found in most Stores throughout the Trader Joes chain, each and every store still seems to have a surprise beer, or two, that is often not found in other stores.

The Long Beach Store, (#43) is located south of Belmont Shores and next to the Pacific Coast Highway and has been a local beer stop for me since moving here 2 years ago.

The Beer forms nearly 40% of the Wine Aisle at the Long Beach Store, and it has a great selection. The usual list of suspects includes Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA and Shelter Pale Ale, Full Sail Pale & Amber, with others from Lindemans, Samuel Smiths, Youngs and Mendocino. Overseas beers vary from the world famous Chimay, the tasty StaroBrno to the naff Sapporo - but at these prices they are all worth trying at least once. It’s a good place to stock up whilst keeping an eye out for those Domestic Seasonals, Overseas Odd-Balls and Special Beers that seem to appear from time to time. The latest bargain that I picked up from Trader Joes was the Sonoran Inebriator Stout, absolutely fantastic and a serious bargain at the price it was being sold for. This is what makes frequent beer visits to Trader Joes well worth while.

Trader Joes offers some of the best value for money beer that I have purchased since being in the States, the regularly stocked DFH 60 min IPA and its constantly altering range of beers make it well worth a frequent stop for a beer shop once a week.
