It's almost Spring, or that may be today. So yes, a Wit is what I'm going to have if I can get it. The cold days are dwindling.

Appearance: A nice hazy yellow with a good amount of head and lacing, though it was filled to the brim so the head died fairly quickly. Still, the lacing stayed around nicely. True color to a Wit for sure.

Smell: Lots of lemon, a bit of grass, some pepper, a tad bit of coriander, and some cream faintly also. Nothing's too out of hand, but it's pretty balanced and good to the senses.

Taste: I knew this wasn't going to compare to a Belgian Wit, and this is a bit lighter than most I've had. Be that as it may, it's still pretty full on flavor, with much of the lemon and citrus coming through. The finish doesn't linger as long as I wanted, but there's some spicy punchiness at the end which works in its favor.

Mouthfeel: What this may be lacking is an overload of candi sugar, because the mouthfeel is indeed a bit light. Once again, though, it isn't too spritzy, which can sometimes happen with lighter beers. Still, it could be a bit thicker.

Drinkability: I was surprised how good this was for a Microbrewery. It was in the low 70s when we visited Moon River, so it was perfect for the one of the brews of choice while we were there. If you're at Moon River, I suggest it.

On-tap at the brewpub. There was a substance to this wit, and a drying peppery corriander taste. A little sweetness and a drop of citrus that gave it acidity. But I could not get at the complexity. The turnover is ferocious here, so I do not suspect it's been about too long.

On-tap on 8/3/11. Poured into a big Mug.

Poured a hazy light orange with a thin white ring. Aromas of crisp wheat, orange peel, and some spicy coriander. Taste follows the nose closely, lots of toasted wheat bread, orange peel, and coriander. Mouth-feel is nice and refreshing, with a thin body and crisp carbonation. Overall, a very nice and drinkable Wit, excellently sessionable on a hot day!

The color of this beer was very striking to me. It appears to have an almost lime green coloration to it. Cloudy appearance and extremely still. No signs of movement. The nose is nicely balanced with some grains, malts and perhaps a whiff of hops. The attack is smooth and easy and the mouthfeel comes across as smooth and not quite creamy. The flavor has a fruity quality to it. As it approaches and enters its finish there is a growing bitterness. Enjoyable for sure.

Pale yellow with appropriate cloudiness and a nice, white head. The coriander and orange are pronounced and create a very pleasant aroma. The body is fairly dry and refreshing with a slight bit of tartness in the end. A very tasty witbier. Easily in the top tier of the style.

(The menu says it features "Belgian Curacao bitter orange peel and coriander".)

Nearly no head and very little lace, otherwise a good looking cloudy gold color

Smell: simply mild wheat, little else

A smooth wheat beer without the unmalted wheat bite. No noticeable spice as advertised . Good body with a lower than expected carbonation. Dry finish that is short lived.

Appearance: pale cloudy yellow in color with a short1/4" head that breaks apart mmediately. No lacing and only a spot or two of surface foam lasts for a few minutes.

Smell: orange and a huge coriander aroma are pleasant on the nose.

Taste: this beer was a bit unblanced as the coriander dominated the flavor profile. Orange, hint of lemon, and some wheat were much softer and overpowered. Bitterness was muted.

Mouthfeel: Very crisp throughout and mildly refreshing. Aftertaste is dominated by lingering coriander. Lighter bodied beer.

Drinkability: I can say this is the one beer I did not enjoy at the brewpub, and was looking at other selections halfway through this pint. It also was not as refreshing as I expected for a hot and humid day.

Poured a cloudy yellow/gold with less than a finger of white, poor retention, and spotty lacing. Couldn't get much from the nose aside from some lemon, grass, hay, and a modest herbal presence. The taste confirmed this, with very little in the way of the citrus, peel, or spice that I have become accustomed to in wits. Very thin, with little carbonation. In a nutshell, not a fan.

Served as part of their 4oz sampler tray. Almost no aroma in the nose. The appearances of cloudy lemonade. Very moderate hop usage. Enough to balance. Very orange-like in taste but other citrus notes. Quite delicious and refreshing. Favorite among the non-beer dorks.

This poured a nice bright yellow, cloudy with a wonderful white he throughout the glass. I gotta say, the smell blew me away. The wit is one of the styles, I think is so often poorly done in America, almost an obligatory style microbreweries seem to throw together to round out their menu. This was NOT one of those micros. I was so impressed; excellent citurs blend, orange and lemon. Pepper and other spices, sugars and mild alcohol. Fantastically balanced. The taste was much of the same. Citrus and wheat, alcohol, but some creamy sugars as well. The mouthfeel was also very good, with a smoothness and creaminess balanced well by the spice and carbonation. I have a hard time getting this down in Durham, but I'll be looking. You should too.
