At Moon River. Nearly black pour, basicly no head, just a few white bubbles.
Aroma, toasted malt, caramel and some chocolates. Not a real strong nose.
Taste, more than the aroma. Still just a fair amount of roast but a little acrid. Slight sour note that I didn't care for. Some more chocolate and peat then coffee in the finish.
To the light side of mid, a tad thin really. Carbonation was fine despite what the appearance showed. Easy enough to drink.
Maybe this was an old barrel, didn't see what others did with this one. All in all very average, which is just fine, someone has to be.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with a small, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Overall weak aroma with a thin amount of chocolate to it and little else.
Taste: Altogether light flavor of chocolate, malty sweetness, and a mildy roasty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Though gauged appropriately for the Savannah crowd, I could've used a bit more depth of flavor as well as body.

Aroma is faintly roasty with lots of molasses and hints of brown sugar. Brown with reddish tints and a decent, but fading mocha head. More of the molasses and brown sugar...more slight roastiness. Gets a touch cloying witht he brown sugar notes, but finished dry and approachable.

Served as part of their 4oz sampler tray.
Wheat aroma with sweet notes in the nose. Tan head with great retention. It has the mouthfeel similar to an oatmeal stout. Very silky. Chocolate and burn notes but also has some residual sweetness. I think I would order another if I had the time.

As with most beers here, it is served in a modified imperial pint type glass. The beer is jet black with just a skim of a tan head.
Nose of dark chocolate, roasted malts and something sweet like molasses.
The taste is roasty, with charred malts and a bit of baker's chocolate. Slightly bitter from the roast but not a hop based bitterness.
The mouth is slightly thin. It was drinkable but in the end not that memorable.

The appearance was what you expect from a porter, black but not opaque with a smaller, short-live head. The thing that really makes this stand out is the aroma. It's smells like a bouquet of flowers. The flavor features some light roastiness and some dry chocolate. Not a flavor bomb, but an interesting porter nonetheless.

Solid porter, with coffee grinds in the offing and chocolate malt. Dark with mocha head and good lacing. Some licorice and even possibly borrowing some orange and corriander from the other beers. Decent bitterness. Good thing I had this before the dixie sugar Belgian, and so could taste it. Medium plus mouthfeel.

Had on tap at the brewpub. Poured a dark almost inky black with a thin tan head. The smell is sweet and roasty, and even sweeter at the end. Taste is similar, and very smooth. A little soft and light in both flavor and mouthfeel. Pretty drinkable, but could use some more oomph.

A: 1.5 finger head on a very dark with little light getting through body.
S: lots of coffee and chocolate malts. Some roasted malts and a little smokey.
T: nice coffee and espresso presence. Roasted Malta and dark chocolates round this one out.
M: smooth with medium to full body and light carbonation.
Overall: nice body for a porter. Not quite smokey enough but the coffee is just right.

This beer was served in a standard pint glass and was a dark brownish red with a moderate tan head with clingy lace. The smell was of roasted malt. The taste was roasty toasty malt with a slight caramel sweetness and mild earthy hoppiness. The beer had a pleasant moderate rounded mouthfeel. This was a very pleasant porter with flavors that aren't too overwhelming. Very drinkable!

A clear, dark, brownish-garnet red Porter with a moderate tan clingy head. The smell is sweet, malty, and roasted. The taste is roasted, with a sweet maltiness (caramel-like?), and a very mild bitter chocolate on the back of my tongue. The body was smooth and moderately round in my mouth. Overall, a nice porter, mild sweet and mild bitter (possibly a bit bitter for a porter, but good).
Moon River's description on the menu: "Our porter is a full-bodied, semi-sweet dark Ale, with distinct notes of caramel and chocolate. Brewed in loving memory of the Brewmaster's Grandfather, the Captain."

Hand pumped from firkin. This is special because they dry hopped with Glacier hops.
A: Very dark, lighting isn't great in here but from what I can tell it's pitch black. Huge foamy head, cascading effect when it came to the table. Tons of lacing on the glass.
S: Citrucy, sweet floral, grassy noted from the hops. Dark chocolate and coffee noted from the hops. Less hop aroma and more chocolate as the beer warms.
T: slightly bitter, mild astringency from the malt. Slight taste of coffee. Toffee notes as the beer begins to warm.
M: Mild carbonation. Slightly creamy mouthfeel.
Overall an enjoyable beer.
