The first beer I had at Moon River over the weekend, poured a deep dark brown with a small off white head, aromas of bitter chocolate and roasted nuts.A very smooth well rounded porter bursting with chocolate and heavily roasted malt flavors full nice mouthfeel lends to its drinkability as well.A damn fine porter it was a nice way to start off my Savannah trip. (361 characters)

Black through and through with a little head. Smells roasty but not so chocolaty more earthy like. It has a roasted sweetness and a little dark chocolate like flavors but no really noble hop notes. It was a little thin, but very drinkable session ale. (251 characters)

The appearance was what you expect from a porter, black but not opaque with a smaller, short-live head. The thing that really makes this stand out is the aroma. It's smells like a bouquet of flowers. The flavor features some light roastiness and some dry chocolate. Not a flavor bomb, but an interesting porter nonetheless. (323 characters)

This beer was served in a standard pint glass and was a dark brownish red with a moderate tan head with clingy lace. The smell was of roasted malt. The taste was roasty toasty malt with a slight caramel sweetness and mild earthy hoppiness. The beer had a pleasant moderate rounded mouthfeel. This was a very pleasant porter with flavors that aren't too overwhelming. Very drinkable! (382 characters)

A clear, dark, brownish-garnet red Porter with a moderate tan clingy head. The smell is sweet, malty, and roasted. The taste is roasted, with a sweet maltiness (caramel-like?), and a very mild bitter chocolate on the back of my tongue. The body was smooth and moderately round in my mouth. Overall, a nice porter, mild sweet and mild bitter (possibly a bit bitter for a porter, but good).

Moon River's description on the menu: "Our porter is a full-bodied, semi-sweet dark Ale, with distinct notes of caramel and chocolate. Brewed in loving memory of the Brewmaster's Grandfather, the Captain."

One of the better porters that I have tasted. Deep copper color is impressive and the hops are there but i think a little more would enhance this brew. Leaves a good taste after you drink it, and I noticed that this beer was the most ordered beer while i was in the bar. Most of the locals swear by this brew and I can't say that they are wrong I enjoyed it quite well..........CHEERS (387 characters)

Deep reddish brown colour with a half decent head that sticks a bit. Faint charcoal and toasted malt in the aroma. Smooth and crisp with a moderate body. Biting bitterness from the roasted malt is not astringent and rests at a perfect level. Touch of hops, both bitterness and flavour jumps in a bit but the malt stays on top with some sweet dextrin and roasted malt flavours. A real easy drinking porter, could be considered an ideal session beer also. (454 characters)
