Quality: The product seems to turn over fairly regularly, and everything that I have gotten there has seemed quite fresh. Last time I was there I checked the expiration on all of the Two Brothers brews that they had, and these were all fresh. Also, I love the fact that you can buy a single bottle of anything they've got.
Service: Never really had anyone come up and ask if I needed any assistance, although the selection isn't that large, so it's not hard to find your way around. I guess I wouldn't mind asking a few questions about Trader's own beers, who brewed them, etc.
Selection: The selection is decent--excellent in terms of it being a grocery store. Good representation of Unibroue, and then quite a lot of the local breweries, with some other craft places from around the country thrown in.
Prices are pretty good, seem maybe a tad bit lower than average for around here.

Like most other reviewers have said before, this place is more food store than beer store, but the stuff they do have isn't to bad. Lots from Unibroue at least 5 different 4 packs from them. Lots from Sea Dog, you can take that for what it's worth I guess, the ubiquitous bottles of Chimay that seem to show up at stores like these. But what is nice is that they have a mix a six section, small though, but still nice to see that a place would do this. You are on your own with the service here, which I imagine is to be expected, but everyone there seemed friendly so it's not all bad. Not my first place to stop for beer.

Trader Joe's is a very popular organic foodstore, they sell a lot of good products, at good prices. They have a wide wine selection also, but beer is quite small. They carry a few common breweries from around the area, as well as they're own private label beer. They carry a few nice reserve beers. And they also have the standard Chimay and Duvel bombers, a good place for food, an ok place for beer. I suppose the one redeemer being that they allow for pack splitting, so it's easy to try a few different local brews on the cheap. If you are at Binny's, stop by and have a look, but don't go there on purpose for beer.

Trader Joe's is a great organic and natural foods store...however as a beer store it's pretty lacking. There is a shelf dedicated to beer in the back corner of the store. It's nicely laid out and everything seems to be rotated frequently and kept fresh. The one thing they have going is that there is no BMC products whatsoever....the only downside is the selection is very limited.
They have many of the craft brew mainstays such as Sierra Nevada, Bell's, Goose Island along with their own new branded product. Some stuff from North Coast and other breweries pops up from time to time..there is usually at least one new beer every time I stop in. The best part is that you can buy singles here...unlike the Binny's next door. I'm usually able to find a bottle or two of something I haven't tried before..and it makes it easier than commiting to a whole sixer.
Overall....if you are going to TJ's for food...check out the beer section as you might find something you haven't tried before. However...don't go here as a beer destination because you will be sorely disappointed. If you're just shopping for beer than the Binny's right next door is your much better option.
