Not overly brown, but its getting there. Nice and clear, half finger pale tan head subsides to leave a nice collar.

Decent aroma. Some floral and herbal notes from the hops, as well as some toffee and walnut from the malts.

Taste is much like the nose, but some esters with the character of apple and pear make a brief appearance between the malt and the hops.

Not bad, but not great either. Somewhat light and watery in body. Would prefer a touch more malt character as well. But other than my minor quibbles this is a very well balanced ale.

Also quite drinkable, and easy enough to session. Pretty approachable fare. Something i would enjoy again with the opportunity, although i wont be turning over stones to try to find more.

650 ml bottle purchased for under $5 CDN from LCBO. Served well-chilled into an Alexander's Keith's pint glass.

Appearance - Solid 1.5 fingers of ivory head, leaving some sticky lacing on the sides of its glass during its rapid retreat. Clear dark honey brown color, with a few copper hues thrown in. Little carbonation is present.

Smell - Nuts, especially walnuts and almonds, with a slightly chocolaty undercurrent. Faint floral note bursting with energy. But overall nuts are the star here.

Taste - Nuts again with a slightly spicy earthiness that takes over and doesn't let go. Well ingrained mild hop flavors blend well with the malts in play here. Pretty tasty overall

Mouthfeel - Watery and a touch on the thin side, this is more noticeable due to the lack of carbonation. Medium- light body with a moderately dry finish. I was expecting a little more distinction here.

Overall - A tasty nut brown ale that has good aromas and flavors just is lacking abit win terms of texture and feel. Still a pretty good brew from this Ontario Brewery that has quickly gained my attention with my first couple of experiences.

The first out of the OCB holiday mixer pack.

A - Pours a crystal clear brown colour, thumb of off-white head with some retention and sporadic lacing.

S - Scent is quite nice with musty caramel, toasted almonds, hints of maple and burnt sugar.

T - Again quite nice offering up a heavy nut flavour with the toasted almonds and a solid caramel and burnt sugar malt backbone. A leafy green hop flavour lingers amongst a touch of espresso.

M - Medium bodied, smooth and creamy and finishes surprisingly wet.

O - A solid brown ale that fits the style to a T. Nothing over the top, but definitely flavourful. Well worth seeking out.
