I got to the restaurant at the tail end of happy hour, in time to get one appetizer and one beer at the discounted happy hour price. I wish happy hour went until 7:00 instead of only until 6:00. Happy hour is definitely the good call for this place. They have a long list of appetizers and pizzas that are half price (and thus a pretty good deal) during happy hour. And the beers are only $3.25 per pint during happy hour, whereas they run about $5 - $6 during normal hours.
I was there for the NCAA basketball national championship and was happy they put it on all the screens and turned off the normal music and turned on the audio for the game. As pretty normal, the large bar area was very busy with seats being filled as soon as they opened up.
I had a porter and a stout, then the bartender recommended and gave me a free taste of Lost Coast's Winterbraun (which was really excellent, I thought). I ordered a different beer because of the food I was having, but I was glad he took the time while it was busy to make that recommendation, and very glad to get a free taste of an excellent beer.
The place is usually busy, so the atmosphere can't be called relaxed or relaxing. The music is louder than I like (especially at the Irvine restaurant, it seems) and it is also darker than I like (though dark restaurants are just my personal pet peeve).
Of course Yardhouse sells itself on its huge selection of beers. However, many of their beers are common macro lagers and light beers. They do have a lot of pretty good beers, but not really a big selection of what I would call excellent beers. (Still, there was no excuse for the couple next to me to drink three rounds of Bud Light!) What is disappointing for me is that this restaurant is in southern Orange County, yet it has no offerings from AleSmith, Lost Abbey, or many of the other nearby high-quality breweries. They do have a few offerings from Stone, but only a few and no special releases or anything.
The food is good at Yardhouse, I have to say. Comparable maybe to Cheesecake Factory. But the prices are high enough that I won't be going back much outside of happy hour, except maybe for special occassions.

As an East Coaster, I arrived at happy hour in this West Coast establishment. HH is 3-6 Pm. What in the hell is THAT all about. Good for me, but that has to suck for everyone else living and working in California. As such, the place was relatively empty at the hour I was there, so I was treated to good service and good prices. My ratings influence/reflect that. I am left to wonder if all that changes once the place gets busier and the hour increases, as I was beginning to experience before I left. Still, 100 beers on tap? You cannot argue too much with the selection.

I usually make it to the Yard House at the Spectrum every time I'm in Irvine, and I'm always glad I made the stop. It's definitely got a chain-restaurant atmosphere, but it's also the most pub-like place I've been in Irvine, and I like the dim lights, dark wood, long bar and TVs offered in the place.
The beer list is long indeed, but doesn't offer anything terribly rare or exotic, with a few exceptions. I had the house Amber Tripel on my last visit, and was quite impressed with it; I would be inclined to try more of their house offerings next time.
It's really a restaurant as much as a bar, and the service reflected that. The staff seemed well-trained and were friendly and competent. The food is good, and while I thought it was a little bit pricey, it's probably well in-line for Irvine cost-of-living.

The Yardhouse.. how to surmise. You know those bars that the fratboys dominated during college? This is basically version 2.0, with an amazing tap list (the ONLY saving grace of this place). Atmosphere made me want to puke. Have no idea how we found a table, but there was no room at the bar, nor did I want to sit up there and watch guys get denied by uptight princess OC girls.
I also had a Ruination, and maybe 1 other beer (I was driving, sucked). They were good. That's about the extent of it. If all you care about is selection, go here. They have a VAST selection, not necessarily a rare one. If you care about atmosphere, stay away from here at night at all costs!

The Yard House is always a good choice to fall back on. Despite being a large chain now, they still stay true to their dedication and passion for beer. I recently visited and wanted a light refreshing beer to pair with my seared ahi tuna. I noticed a Tangerine Hef and decided to give it a try. It was a great pairing and the bartender came by to have a quick chat. He was surprisingly knowledgeable about all the beers that were available and actually spent time tasting me on some interesting new arrivals. I always have a good experience here, the food is great, the beer list is never a disappointment, and I really hope they get some life and limb in one day.

I was very impressed. I started with a St. Bernardus Abt 12, (2) Speakeasy Double Daddy's, and an Old Rasputin. The total bill was less than $25. The service was incredibly quick and the beertendress was very knowledgeable. She served a hefeweizen to a customer who asked for a lemon and she insisted they try the beer before "tampering" with it.
Overall a very positive experience. I will be back.
I was originally put off by the $7 St Berny's 12, but the rest of the beers were $5, and with that type of selection, I was willing to pay while my girlfriend shopped at The Spectrum. Anything that keeps me out of Urban Outfitters is a plus. If it involves beer, it is even better. Can't wait to come back
Clean, affordable, knowledgeable, and pleasant

Your standard Yardhouse. An obscene about of beers on-tap, somewhere around 140. Lots of macros, domestic and imported. Maybe about 15 beers that would get a beer-geek excited. They don't seem to rotate their taps much, the list is printed on a menu and it seems like it doesn't change much. The atmosphere is rather sterile and a bit corporate. It's not at all like a bar but more like a slightly upscale restaurant. If you ever find ourself stuck at the Irvine Spectrum it's certainly a good place to stop and have a brew.

The Yardhouse is my all time favorite bar anywhere. With over 150 beers on tap, you really have a great selection to choose from. It took me half a year, but I finally got through every single beer they have on tap (including all the light beers!! yuck).
The service at the bar is definitely exceptional. The bartenders are really easy to get along with and are extremely friendly. I would give them a 5 on service, except for this rude ass bartender named Andrea. What a bitch. Sorry to say, but she acts all snobbish and if you get on her bad side, peace buddy. But if you run into Bobby, Danny, or Jesus, definitely order a brew from them.
About the food... wow. Lots of selection and it all really tastes great! I have to recommend the chicken wings and the crab cakes. During happy hour, the pizza is amazing.
Happy hour is everyday from 3-6 PM. That's the best time to go to get CHIMAY for $3! What a steal.
Anyhow... I'm off to Yardhouse right now.
